At Wildwood Care Centre, St. Marys on Thursday, December 31, 2009 Nellie (Loyens) (Blom) Maas formerly of Granton in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late John Blom and the late Walter Maas. Dear mother of John and Nancy Blom of Nairn, Peter and Lynda Blom, Bill and Diane Blom and Harry and Candida Blom all of Granton and John Maas of Port Bruce. Dear grandmother of Jason, Michael, Joel and Nina; Veronica and Tiffany; Tanner; Shelby and Joshua; Ryan and great-grandmother of J.T., Jamie and Taylor. Dear sister of Pieta (Jansen) Cormier of London.

At Nellie’s request, her body has been donated to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Western Ontario.

Donations to St. Marys Memorial Hospital, St. Marys would be appreciated by the family.

Zaida Maude (Coombs) Bruce

At Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 Zaida Maude (Coombs) Bruce formerly of Orillia and Bracebridge in her 102nd year. Wife of the late Floyd Bruce (1978). Dear mother of Doris and Guy Giddings of Exeter and the late Jean (Gilbert) Morrison (2007). Dear grandmother of LeeAnne and Michael Wiebe, D.J. and Glenn Chrysler; and Stephen and Sharon Gilbert. Also missed by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Zaida was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters.

There will be no funeral home visitation. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Kirk Cemetery, Bracebridge.

Beloved husband of Betty Ann (Lewis) Martin. Dear father of Carman and Bonnie Martin of Point Clark and Dave and Janie Martin of Petrolia. Dear grandfather of Stacey, Amanda, Brooke and Blane; Tim and Melisa, and Greg and Tina and great-grandfather of Olivia, Mackenzie, Dylan and Alex. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bob and Valrae Martin of Forest, Delbert and Diane Martin of Sarnia, Terry and Carol Martin of St. Marys, Rose Martin of London and Pat Martin of Sarnia. Predeceased by his parents Jack (John) and Jean Martin, sisters Ruthanne and Marilyn and brothers Roy, Jim and Bruce. Donald will also be missed by the families of the late Arnold and Elsie Lewis.

Marjorie Ilene (Earl) Johns

The keyboard is now silent. At South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Saturday, December 26, 2009 Marjorie Ilene (Earl) Johns of Exeter Villa and formerly of Usborne Township in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Philip Johns (1998). Her musical gifts were appreciated by her loving family, Margaret and Lorne Hern of St. Marys, Elaine and Cliff Webber of Stratford, Janice and Craig Webber and Eleanor and Peter Armstrong all of Exeter, Gerald and Carolyn Johns of Usborne Township and Catherine and Don Allen of Londesboro. The melody continues in the lives of her grandchildren Lynne, Steven and Jo-Dee, Beth-Ann and Carman: Ben and April, Ryan: Hilary and Rob, Jillian and Jamie: Katie and John, Sarah and Cory: Matthew, Evelyn and Richard: Emily, Mikayla and Mary Kate. The rhythm band is made up of Jordann, Abbigail, Cameron: Clara, Clayton: Lachlan, Reese, Addisyn: Kylie: Cohen, Avah: and Nolan. Predeceased by her siblings Mary Kerslake and her husband Howard and Edith Miller and her husband Everard, her mother Lilly Maud (Cann) and brother Willie Earl in 1926, her father James Earl in 1964, Mother Elsie (Gunning) Earl in 1976 and sister-in-law Bessie Bencsik. Loved by several nieces and nephews. Her legacy of the joy of music will be missed by the residents of the Exeter Villa, the congregations of Crediton and Centralia churches and her many former and current piano students. Marjorie was a life member of the Women’s Institute, organist for Haskett Funeral Home, member of the Kirkton Horticultural Society and committed U.C.W member. She supported South Huron Hospital Auxillary and during her life time has received recognition from several organizations for her many hours as a community volunteer.

Peacefully with her family at her side at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy on Thursday, December 24, 2009 formerly of Lucan in her 77th year. Beloved wife of the late Kevin Morkin (1999).  Dear mother of Elizabeth and Brian Froats of Lucan, Louise and Ron Vanderhoek of  Grand Bend, Kevin and Alix Morkin of Mount Pleasant and Mona and Rob Wuytenburg of Birr.  Dear grandmother of Adam and Danielle Froats; Michael and Matthew Bender; Sarah, Thomas and Jack Morkin; and Meaghan, Katie, Nicholas and Ben Wuytenburg. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Barbara and Mitch Aziz of London, Mary and Ed Yurek of St. Thomas, Peter and Sandra Henderson of Kitchener, Ed and Bev Henderson of Devon, Alberta, and Margaret and Clair Sceli of Denfield.  Predeceased by her sister Jean Harrison and brother-in-law Stan Harrison. Carole will be sadly missed by the Morkin family and the staff and residents of the Strathmere Lodge.

At South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Sunday, December 13, 2009 of Hensall in his 67th year. Beloved husband of Grace (Schuit) Cleve. Dear father of Thomas and Tomoko Cleve of Cambridge and Belinda Jane and Patricia. Also missed by 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bill and Lucille Cleve of Mt. Brydges, Jack and Krista Cleve of Alberta, Marjorie Kamp of London, Chuck and Shirley Cleve of Strathroy; Alberta and Wim Buitendijk of The Netherlands, Henry and Wilma Schuit of Lynden, Gerald and Charlene Schuit of Dundas, John and Connie Schuit of Ayton, Jim and Mary Schuit of Harrow, Dirk Schuit of Hanover, Lester Schuit of Brucefield, Gary and Sherry Schuit of Lucknow, Elizabeth and Pete Vrugteveen of Beamsville and David and Erica Schuit of Hanover. Missed by several nieces and nephews. Jim worked for Hamilton’s Machine Shop for over 20 years.

Due to the overwhelming support  the family has received, they will now receive friends at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 street west of Main, Exeter on Thursday, December 17, 2009 afternoon from 2-4PM. Cremation will follow.

Dear father of Bob and Nancy Manning of Ilderton. Beloved grandfather of J.R. and Colleen Manning of Alvinston and Chelsey Manning and Jon Passmore of Exeter. Also lovingly remembered by his daughter and her family. Great-grandfather of Jacob and Mitchell. Dear brother of Arthur and Alice Manning of Highgate. Predeceased by his sisters Ruth Stirling (December 12, 2009) and Verna Todd and brothers-in-law Telfor Stirling and Wilbur Todd.

A memorial service will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street Lucan on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11 AM with Rev. Bill McAuslan officiating. Cremation has taken place with interment in Gosnell Cemetery, Highgate.

Peacefully, surrounded by his family at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Saturday, December 12, 2009, of Exeter and formerly of Belgrave, in his 98th year, following a full life of farming, building, construction, travel, dancing, woodworking, cutting lawns, playing cards and enjoying country music. Beloved husband of Myrtle (Haist) (Passmore) for 25 years and the late Pauline Kaufman (1973). Dear father and father-in-law of Ila and Arnold Mathers of Exeter, Lillian and Harold Leudke of Chesley, Karen McCallum of Wingham, Sharon Pengelly of Goderich and his step children David and Sharon Passmore, Darlene and Bill Hooper, Barb and Dennis Rau and Dale and Pauline Passmore all of Exeter. Loving grandfather of many grandchildren, step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sons Alvin and Don, daughter Marilyn and sons-in-law Jim McCallum and Dennis Passmore. Gord grew up in Bruce County and moved his family to Belgrave in 1943. He lived on the farm for over 60 years until moving to Exeter.

At LHSC-Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 Danny Middleton of Granton in his 54th year.  Dear father of Derek Middleton of London.  Dear brother and brother-in-law of Linda and Don Clipperton of London, Carol Middleton and Fred Middleton both of Granton and Charlene and Brian Knapman of London.  Dear uncle of Jamie and Teresa Clipperton, Shane and Shari Clipperton, Lacey Knapman and Joel Rouse and Kyle Knapman and Sarah Sitter all of London.  Also remembered by the Lambourn family, the Murphy Bus Line family and many other friends.  Predeceased by his parents Valbert (2005) and Shirley (2001) Middleton.
