VARLEY: Peacefully, with the love of his family, at Jessica’s House Residential Hospice, Exeter, on Friday, May 30, 2025, Raymond Edward Varley of Huron Park, age 82. Beloved husband of the late Sandra Gayle (Inson) Varley (2003). Loved father and father-in-law of Rob Varley and Michelle of London. Dear brother of Marion Armstrong of Granton and Margaret Brintnell of Exeter. Remembered by his former daughter-in-law Crystal Varley of London, his nieces, nephews and their families and his close friends Sharlene Jefferson and Randy Hicks and Donna Glanville all of Huron Park. Predeceased by his parents Joseph Edward Albert and Marjorie Marie (Wein) Varley, brothers-in-law Bill Armstrong and Keith Brintnell. At Ray’s request, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service and Interment at Crediton Cemetery, date and time to be announced. Arrangements entrusted the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. Ray was a longtime employee of Suntastic Greenhouse and a friend to all. If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to charity of your choice would be appreciated.

In Memory of Ray
Ray was one of a kind. He lived simply, worked hard, and stayed true to himself. Even after life took different turns, I stayed in touch with him over the years, and I’m grateful for that.
He had a kind heart and a smiling face—and he’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Ray loved being outside cutting lawns, enjoyed a good card game, and always had music playing—especially the old stuff and country, always on the radio—everything else was too high-tech for him. He’d often sing to himself, talk out loud like he had company, and he usually did—his pets were never far.
In the later years, life grew quieter for him. Most of his old friends had passed—and his wife, too—and I know he felt that. But Ray kept going in his own quiet way.
The last time I saw him was just a week before he passed. He was in the hospital, in a lot of pain, but never once complained. He was tired, but still fighting—right to the end.
May he rest peacefully now, with some tunes in the background, a deck of cards in hand, and a beer.

So very sorry to hear about Raymond’s passing. So many memories of him working as my Dad’s hired hand on the farm. When I think of Raymond I can hear him singing as he is driving the tractor in the fields. Always smiling and oh that giggle. Later in life when I drove bus I would always make sure to look for him as I drove by his place for that big wave and smile.
