Dear father of Rick and Doreen Gaiser of Waterloo, Susan Grigg of London, Mary Lou and Ron Bilcke and Sandra Sweitzer all of Exeter. Loving grandfather of David, Mark and Heidi; Amanda and Gary, Greg and Monique; Corey and Laura, Tim and Jenna, Ty; Kelly and John and Kimberly and Ryan. Dear great-grandfather of Paxton, Spence, Olivia, Sean, Madison, Leeum, Chase, Claire, Brandon, Clara and Holden. He will be missed by his many family and friends. Ivan was known for years as “Ivan the Butcher” at Betty and Art’s IGA in Grand Bend.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at 1:30 PM with Pastor Doug Watson officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or South Huron Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. Ivan and Shirley provided guidance, wisdom and patience during our formative years together. On more than one occasion, Ivan would invite me into “the office”…setting me down on the ottoman and explaining to me why I was there, the behaviour modification expected and then a hug to send me on my way. He and Shirley treated me as one of their own and they accepted Paul and later our children, as their own extended family as well. He was a gentle giant, wise beyond his years and infinitely kind to family and friends. Paul and I consider ourselves blessed to have had the “Grigg” gang in our lives.
