At Exeter Villa on Sunday, July 3, 2016 of Exeter in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Eva Sweitzer Grigg and the late Shirley (Appleton) Grigg (1990). Dear father of Rick and Doreen Gaiser of Waterloo, Susan Grigg of London, Mary Lou and Ron Bilcke and Sandra Sweitzer all of Exeter. Loving grandfather of David, Mark and Heidi; Amanda and Gary, Greg and Monique; Corey and Laura, Tim and Jenna, Ty; Kelly and John and Kimberly and Ryan. Dear great-grandfather of Paxton, Spence, Olivia, Sean, Madison, Leeum, Chase, Claire, Brandon, Clara and Holden. He will be missed by his many family and friends. Ivan was known for years as “Ivan the Butcher” at Betty and Art’s IGA in Grand Bend.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at 1:30 PM with Pastor Doug Watson officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or South Huron Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

I will never forget that time I went with you to pick your mom and dad up at the airport on their way home from Arizona. They were wearing matching cowboys shirts, bolero ties and collar clips. They were so cute. It brings a smile to me now as I type this.

Dear Mary Lou,Susan,Rick and families. I am so sorry for your loss Ivan truly was a super man who was loved and respected by all those who knew him. It was a honour to have worked with him for many years. He was much more than just a butcher he had a special bond with those he served in the community who trusted him and continued to ask for him years after he retired. I will miss his kindness and sense of humour. I used to call him the “rock” which he truly was , someone we could admire and lean on if needed. God bless

Dear Rick, Susan, MaryLou and families,
Ivan and Shirley provided guidance, wisdom and patience during our formative years together. On more than one occasion, Ivan would invite me into “the office”…setting me down on the ottoman and explaining to me why I was there, the behaviour modification expected and then a hug to send me on my way. He and Shirley treated me as one of their own and they accepted Paul and later our children, as their own extended family as well. He was a gentle giant, wise beyond his years and infinitely kind to family and friends. Paul and I consider ourselves blessed to have had the “Grigg” gang in our lives. We’ll miss his smile, his laughter and those amazing hugs. His legacy of love continues in the smiles of those who have followed. In sympathy and prayer, we send our love.

Each time we met on the street or in a restaurant you always took the time to catch up and share a hug. Ivan was a gentle and loving man. He will be greatly missed. In sorrow and sympathy, we send our love.
