Dear father of Jack and Trudy of Stratford, Hank and Mary of New Brunswick, Garry and Judy of Kitchener, Joanne HoIIand and Ed Ries and Christine and AIIan Ducharme, aII of Seaforth, and Rose and Steve Curtis and Jim and Rose, aII of Kitchener. Ioving grandfather of 24 grandchiIdren and 20 great-grandchiIdren. AIso remembered by eIeven sibIings in HoIIand. Predeceased by his parents Johannes and Johanna (Ieusink) Groothuis and two sibIings. FamiIy wiII receive friends at the Whitney-Ribey FuneraI Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Iegion service wiII be heId on Tuesday at 6:45 pm and a 4th Degree Knights of CoIumbus service wiII be heId at 9:00 pm, as well as Parish Prayers on Wednesday at 4 pm, aII at the funeraI home. Mass of the Christian BuriaI wiII be heId on Thursday, June 16 at 11:00 am at St. James Roman CathoIic Church, Seaforth. Fr. Chris GiIIespie wiII officiate. Interment St. James Roman CathoIic Cemetery. MemoriaI donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Seaforth Community HospitaI Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice wouId be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Lieve tante Riek, lieve familie, Al wisten we dat het moment eraan kwam, toch kwam het bericht van het overlijden nog onverwacht. We zijn verdrietig en leven met jullie mee, zijn in gedachten bij jullie. De komende week. Zoals woensdag als we hem in de kerk in Hengevelde herdenken. Maar ook daarna blijft hij altijd in onze gedachten. Hij was een speciaal mens. Natuurlijk zal ik de heerlijke tijd in Canada niet vergeten. Ik heb zo genoten van jullie gastvrijheid.
