Al is de afstand groot, we leven intens met jullie mee.
Ik weet nog goed dat op 12 juni 1996, toen onze dochter Renske werd geboren, u beiden bij ons op kraamvisite kwamen. U bracht toen voor Renske een roze knuffel mee, die hebben we nog steeds. En nu, 15 jaren later, krijgen we bericht dat oom Gerard op 12 juni is overleden( op de verjaardag van Renske). Beste tante Riek, wij wensen u heel veel sterkte de komende tijd. Lieve tante Riek, lieve familie, Al wisten we dat het moment eraan kwam, toch kwam het bericht van het overlijden nog onverwacht. We zijn verdrietig en leven met jullie mee, zijn in gedachten bij jullie. De komende week. Zoals woensdag als we hem in de kerk in Hengevelde herdenken. Maar ook daarna blijft hij altijd in onze gedachten. Hij was een speciaal mens. Natuurlijk zal ik de heerlijke tijd in Canada niet vergeten. Ik heb zo genoten van jullie gastvrijheid. Bijvoorbeeld die keren dat hij de BBQ-meester uithing (heerlijk, die steaks). En ook al die keren dat jullie bij ons waren in Nederland waren altijd een feest. Altijd gezellig, altijd geinteresseerd, altijd vrolijk en altijd in voor een grap. Heel veel sterkte de komende tijd en ik hoop dat jullie zijn kracht voelen om jullie te helpen het verlies te verwerken.

Dear Riek, Jack, Hank, Garry, Joanne, Chris, Rosie & Jamie We mourn with you. Gerald was a great man. He was bigger than life, full of laughter, intensity, focus and love. I have so many wonderful memories of being with your family as I grew up. Gerald working at the gas station, going to Toronto with Dad to buy cars at the auction. Gerald hired Joe to be a gas jockey. Joanne, you helped me to get my job at the Supertest. Riek do you remember the big snow storm and you took care of Joe and I? Trips to the pool, the beach, playing your piano, birthday parties, anniversaries, sleep overs, the teasing, the jokes. I remember Gerald coming home to enjoy Riek&&single&&s delicious cooking and baking. I always wanted a big family … and I felt like a part of yours. So many memories. Riek I wish I could wrap you up in my arms. Mom couldn&&single&&t have a better friend. Lieve Riek en verdere familie Ik leef erg met jullie mee, maar voel me zo machteloos om iets te doen, we zijn zo ver van elkaar verwijderd, maar toch voel ik me heel dicht bij jullie,ik heb gezien in het memorial boek dat Donderdag a.s de begrafenis is dan ben ik in gedachten bij jullie.
