FRAYNE: Rick of Grand Bend

January 20, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 151 Condolences

FRAYNE: Rick of Grand Bend

Rick passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Rick fought this battle with strength, dignity and humour; never complaining or saying โ€œwhy me?โ€. Rick will be missed by many, especially his family. Cherished husband of Lisa Frayne for over 48 years. Proud dad of Justine, and Chris (Marria). Loving grandpa of Seth, Quinn, Lily, and Caleb. Dear brother of Marilyn Williamson (her son Matt) and brother-in-law of Jeff Ferst, and Steve (Brenda) Ferst (their son Joel).

Rick was the proud owner of Exeter Toyota and brought the Toyota franchise to Exeter in December of 1988. He made friends throughout his years in the car business. Rick had a love of anything with motors. He spent many happy years racing at the Grand Bend Motorplex and shared his love for boating and motorcycles.

A celebration of Rickโ€™s life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Wednesday, January 22nd from 3 โ€“ 5 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to South Huron Hospital Foundation, LHSC โ€“ Verspeeten Cancer Centre, or VON Sarnia Lambton would be appreciated by the family.

His family would like to thank and extend their gratitude for all the thoughtful care and incredible kindness along the way, specifically the staff at South Huron Hospital, LHSC โ€“ Verspeeten Cancer Centre, VON Sarnia Lambton, and Ontario Health at Home.

Sending my sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of you. Rick was a kind, caring and friendly person who always took time to talk with people at Exeter Toyota, myself included after over 25 years of being a loyal customer. He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eyes, a story to share and demonstrated a positive attitude even though he was battling cancer which he did with courage and dignity. Thank you for all the fun times and making sure we were driving the right vehicles. And also to Lisa, Justine, Chris and family, thank you for all the good times with our families, at the cottage, on the cruises and vacations and just hanging around and growing up together. It takes a lot of self confidence and courage to start up and run a business the size of Frayne’s Exeter Toyota. That Rick Frayne chose to do it did not surprise me.

Even when Rick and I were in public school he was very self confident and bold. That continued into high school. He stood out. You knew that this guy was going to be a difference maker.

Exeter lost a lot when it lost Rick Frayne.

    To the Frayne family,
Sending sincere condolences to you all. As soon as I started working with Rick many many years ago, I knew he wasn’t like any other dealer principals I had known. He was down to earth, fun loving and a true believer in the value of relationships and small towns. Working with him and Ron were some of the best times, they were both such great men. We hope you find comfort in the memories that you shared and the fun times you had, of which we are sure there were many.

    Lisa and Family,
It was you and Rick on Carling Street in the early 70’s that forged the memories of “over the top” dinner parties….and well, just parties in general that were always fun and full of friendship and kindness. Rick was a gracious host and remarkable “listener”; rare in those days. His respect for his friends and devotion to his family have always been an admirable trait that he carried throughout his life.
My deepest condolences to you at the loss of a husband (soul mate). and father.
    Warm hugs,
    Jackie & family

You have never been forgotten in our lives as you were such a significant part of our beginnings with sweet Derek who will turn 37 on Thursday. You were enjoying your young family with your husband at that time as well. Blessings
