We are sad to announce that the position of Best Nana in the World is now vacant, with the passing of Mary Cassell (Page) (Cudmore), who left us peacefully at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, London on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mary was the dear wife of the late Alvin Cudmore (1974) and the late Donald Cassell (2020). She is lovingly remembered by her children Craig and Linda (Dutchak) Cudmore, Karen (Cudmore) and Tony Pietrangelo, Doug and Astrid (Van Den Broek) Cudmore, Sherry Cassell, and Amy and Jim Lees, as well as step-children Glenn and Jacqueline (Thornton) Cassell, Lorraine and Joseph Poitras, and Shaun and Susan (Toews) Cassell. She was the extremely proud grandmother of Colin, Leah, Dylan, Tim, Harley, Megan, Annika, Desmond, Blossom, Anna, Adeline, Jimmy and Rowan; step-grandmother of Ernest, Kevin, Amanda, Megan, Alexandra, Joshua, Colleen, Steve, Lindsay, Anthony, and Dianna; great-grandmother of Brooke, Alisha, Amilia, Abigail and Hazel; and step-great-grandmother to 15 more. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Kathy (Page) and Paul Regier, Susan (Page) and Bill Bateman and Marjorie MacDonald (Cudmore). Predeceased by her parents Jean (Hall) and Desmond Page, sister Barbara LePage, brother-in-law Peter LePage and step-grandson Robert.
Mary faced many challenges in life, but her optimism and curiosity were bright guiding lights that never diminished in her. She studied at London Teachers College and worked as a teacher before raising her ever-growing family. In her rare free time, she loved travel, nature, and the joys of ice cream. And she was always up for a swim!
Thanks to her warmth and her faith, Mary touched everyone she encountered, from friends to strangers (who would soon become friends). She also took action to make the world a better place, with roles at the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle, Noah’s Ark, overseas missions work, community theatre, and working as an ambassador at her care home. The family would like to give a special thank-you to the care team at Westmount Gardens Long Term Care.
Visitation will be held at Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle, 70670 London Road, EXETER on Saturday, August 9th from 12:30-1:30 pm where the funeral service will begin at 2 PM.

A little story to share with Craig, Karen and Doug. When I received my engagement ring 54 years ago about now your Mom and Dad were the first other than my immediate family to see my ring. I was so excited and they were excited for me. A few years later our two girls slept in the crib that you three slept in. Sweet memories that came to mind when I heard of your mom’s passing.

My condolences to the family. Mary was a special lady and a dear friend. Some of my favourite memories: driving to Toronto Friday nights to minister at TACF, trips to Bayfield and Goderich just to watch the sunset, senior aquatics in Vanastra, working together at Christmas Bureau (she was the best receptionist), working on the church’s anniversary history and celebration weekend, leading adult Sunday School class together. All of our trips always included the inevitable ice cream treat!
But she won my heart when she invited me to stay at the farm the day of my dad’s funeral because she didn’t want me to go home alone. Also when she gave me the keys to her house so I had a safe place to go in case of a tornado.
