Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On July 25, 2025 @ 12:56 PM In Exeter,Obituary | 29 Comments

We are sad to announce that the position of Best Nana in the World is now vacant, with the passing of Mary Cassell (Page) (Cudmore), who left us peacefully at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, London on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mary was the dear wife of the late Alvin Cudmore (1974) and the late Donald Cassell (2020). She is lovingly remembered by her children Craig and Linda (Dutchak) Cudmore, Karen (Cudmore) and Tony Pietrangelo, Doug and Astrid (Van Den Broek) Cudmore, Sherry Cassell, and Amy and Jim Lees, as well as step-children Glenn and Jacqueline (Thornton) Cassell, Lorraine and Joseph Poitras, and Shaun and Susan (Toews) Cassell. She was the extremely proud grandmother of Colin, Leah, Dylan, Tim, Harley, Megan, Annika, Desmond, Blossom, Anna, Adeline, Jimmy and Rowan; step-grandmother of Ernest, Kevin, Amanda, Megan, Alexandra, Joshua, Colleen, Steve, Lindsay, Anthony, and Dianna; great-grandmother of Brooke, Alisha, Amilia, Abigail and Hazel; and step-great-grandmother to 15 more. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Kathy (Page) and Paul Regier, Susan (Page) and Bill Bateman and Marjorie MacDonald (Cudmore). Predeceased by her parents Jean (Hall) and Desmond Page, sister Barbara LePage, brother-in-law Peter LePage and step-grandson Robert.
Mary faced many challenges in life, but her optimism and curiosity were bright guiding lights that never diminished in her. She studied at London Teachers College and worked as a teacher before raising her ever-growing family. In her rare free time, she loved travel, nature, and the joys of ice cream. And she was always up for a swim!
Thanks to her warmth and her faith, Mary touched everyone she encountered, from friends to strangers (who would soon become friends). She also took action to make the world a better place, with roles at the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle, Noah’s Ark, overseas missions work, community theatre, and working as an ambassador at her care home. The family would like to give a special thank-you to the care team at Westmount Gardens Long Term Care.
Visitation will be held at Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle, 70670 London Road, EXETER on Saturday, August 9th from 12:30-1:30 pm where the funeral service will begin at 2 PM.

Donations to Youth With A Mission Canada or Noah’s Ark would be appreciated by the family.

To Mary’s family and loved ones.
Mary was an amazing lady and will be missed. Praying God grants you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
My condolences to the family.
Our love and prayers are with you all..Mary was such a strong faithful Christian. She will be missed very much ♡♡♡
Our condolences to the families. We are thinking and praying for you all at this time of sorrow.
My condolences to the family. Mary was a special lady and a dear friend. Some of my favourite memories: driving to Toronto Friday nights to minister at TACF, trips to Bayfield and Goderich just to watch the sunset, senior aquatics in Vanastra, working together at Christmas Bureau (she was the best receptionist), working on the church’s anniversary history and celebration weekend, leading adult Sunday School class together. All of our trips always included the inevitable ice cream treat!
But she won my heart when she invited me to stay at the farm the day of my dad’s funeral because she didn’t want me to go home alone. Also when she gave me the keys to her house so I had a safe place to go in case of a tornado.
Love you Mary and I will miss you
My condolences to the family and thank you for sharing Mary with the rest of us.
So very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. Such a phenomenally bright light in the community, and so kind and caring, as well as a treat to talk to when we would see her in the Snider Crescent neighbourhood.
Our most kind condolences to the Cudmore and Cassell family.
Darren, Denise Boyle & family
I have been playing Words With Friends and Word Blitz with her for a few years. During these games we chatted and discovered I went to school her son Doug! Small world indeed. We became fast friends and Covid days passed faster through our games. It will forever be your turn now my dear friend. We will play again some day.
So many fond memories flood my mind as I think of Mary. A shining light for Jesus. May the love she had for her family envelope you now and her prayers for her family be remembered

Mary’s friendship, faith, and fellowship will be remembered and cherished. The trip to Israel and Mary on the camel showed her love of life and adventure. Her unwavering faith in her Saviour and demonstrated in her interactions with those around her is something we would like to emulate.
Our condolences on the loss of your Best Nana and Mother.

Don and Mary were special neighbours on Snider Crescent at Somerset Street. I’m glad we kept in touch by Messenger when she moved to London. Many of my new neighbours at The Crossing will be as saddened to hear of Mary’s death as I am.

I have such wonderful memories of Mary! Her contagious smile and her love for family and friends! Our camp outs at the “Jesus” events at Bingeman Park and the list goes on. Love, thoughts and prayers to your family.

We were so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She would often have me take care of her children and I loved spending time with them all. Mary’s faith and love for Jesus is what I cherished most in her. I’m sure she is rejoicing right now in heaven and look forward to when we meet again

A special woman, and a great Christian.
A fine talented lady. Mary and Don were great neighbours on Elimville line. Offering their pool to our kids to cool off on hot summer days like now. I have many fond memories of Mary over the decades I have known her.
To Mary’s family. Mary was one of the first people that we met when we moved into The Crossing Apartment Building which is almost 10 years ago. Our condolences to all the family.

Mary was a treasured Hurondale neighbbour and dear friend. She adored her family, and strove to make the world a better place for us all. Somehow she made the time, in the young family years, to lead Girl Guides and serve her community in multiple ways. Her kindness, optimism and strength will always be remembered. Lori
To the family of Mary.
I’m so sorry…I am just seeing this now.
All my deepest condolences to your family.
Mary was a former customer in my store in Exeter. She was the sweetest person to help.
There were many times I would drop things off to her house or apartment after hours on my way home. She was.
Lovely and will be missed by many.

My sincere condolences to those who loved Mary and she was so easy to love! I met her on Concord Cres – me a new mother of twins and she became mentor and friend and always there with a smile and a hug. The Twins Club and Play School, hospital cooking and child care – what a busy time! I think of her often and will always remember her lovingly.
A little story to share with Craig, Karen and Doug. When I received my engagement ring 54 years ago about now your Mom and Dad were the first other than my immediate family to see my ring. I was so excited and they were excited for me. A few years later our two girls slept in the crib that you three slept in. Sweet memories that came to mind when I heard of your mom’s passing.
May the sun shine on all of Mary’s family, friends and community on Saturday.
Elaine (Johns) Webber
