Passed away peacefully at the LHSC – University Hospital on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the age of 90. Loving mother of Robin, Patrick, Erin, Anna, Geoff, Mindy, Peter, Tim, Sean, and Abby. Dearly missed by her brothers David Reckzin, Phillip Reckzin, Murray Reckzin, and Earl Reckzin. Fondly remembered by them, their spouses, her many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Albert & Myrtle Reckzin and by her brothers Martin Reckzin, Norman, Reckzin, and sister Violet Schraeder.
Betty’s greatest accomplishment in life was raising and loving her children. She was always generous with her advice—freely given, whether asked for or not—and shared it with warmth and good humour. One of her favourite hobbies was knitting, a pastime through which she created comfort and care for those around her.
During her time at Sears, Betty was well known for her “magic red pen,” famous for finding discounts and good deals. She was also a wonderful storyteller, never afraid to embellish a tale to make it more entertaining. Betty loved her career as a hairdresser and held onto her salon for as long as she was able, taking great pride in her work and the connections she made through it.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home 223 Main Street, LUCAN, on Wednesday, December 17, from 1–3 PM
Donations to Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
