John George O’Connor

John George O’Connor in his 81st year, formerly of Granton, passed away at Parkwood Hospital, London on Saturday, January 21st with his family at his side. John is now at peace and reunited with his beloved wife of 44 years Hilda (Pascoe) (1988) and eldest grandchild Lauchlin (1989). Precious father and father-in-law of Kelly and Rose O’Connor, Kevin and Patsy O’Connor, Kerry and Wayne Higman, Kathleen Kennedy and Sean Brennan, Patrick and Sue O’Connor and Clinton Kennedy, Loving and proud grandfather of Timothy, Spencer, David, Darryl and Thomas; Rob, Caleigh and Ryan; Sarah, April and Adam; and great-grandfather of Darik, Connor, Dylan, Cole, Ethan, Abigail, Mallory, Emma, and Liam. Survived by sisters Edna, Mary and Patsy and brothers Bryan, Max and Jim. John was well loved and respected by his family, friends and co-workers. He will be forever remembered by his many nieces and nephews as “Uncle Jack”. John was a resident of Parkwood Hospital for 25 years as a result of a brain injury. A valued employee of Silverwood Dairies for more than 30 years, John was an outgoing person who easily gained the respect of his peers. He served gallantly and courageously in the latter years of WWII with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry seeing action in the Mediterranean and European theater of war. John for many years was a member of Branch 540 Royal Canadian Legion, Lucan, Ontario. John’s greatest passions were his family, his grandchildren, fishing, camping, skating, cycling, music, sketching, woodworking and playing cards. Friends may call at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Monday 2-4and 7-9 PM where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 11AM with Rev. Darrell Shaule officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Donations to Parkwood Hospital Foundation Brain Injury Clinic would be appreciated by the family. A Legion Service will be held in the funeral on Monday evening at 7PM.

Suddenly, at her late residence on Friday, January 13, 2006 Donna Bernice (Lavis) Baker of Huron Park in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Howard H. Baker (1988). Dear mother of Bill Baker of London, Marjorie and Fred Neathway of Strathroy, Allen and Sandy Baker of Hamilton, Sharon and Harry Kingma of Huron Park, Marilyn and Glen Rohde of Woodham, Sandra and Brad Marsden and Susan and Tom Murch all of Exeter. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a grandson William Baker and sisters Eleen Wagner and Lenore McTavish. No funeral home visitation. A private family service will be held at Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Sunday, January 15, 2006 with Rev. Sheila Macgregor officiating. Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital on January 7, 2006, with family members present, Constance (Connie) Bernice Noels (Jackson) of Grand Bend in her 63rd year. She was the beloved wife of Gordon Noels, mother of Brent and his friend, Kim Tasker of London, Craig of Whistler, BC and Erin of Exeter. Sister of Patricia Bekke and her husband, Harry of Vancouver B.C., Linda Norton and her husband, Robert, of London and George Jackson and his wife, Anita, of LaRonge, Sask. Survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Jackson of London; Connie is also survived by brother-in-law Donald Noels and his wife, Helen of Fergus and sister-in-law, Mona deRyk and her husband, Peter of Grand Bend. Connie also enjoyed a close relationship with many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Hazel Jackson, and brother, David Jackson. Connie was very active in volunteer work both in London and Grand Bend. She enjoyed her work with the Thames Valley Children’s Centre and Community Living-South Huron. She also was very involved with the Tourism Office in Grand Bend. Connie was a member of St. John’s by the Lake Anglican Church in Grand Bend where a private family service will be conducted by The Reverend Father Bill Ward on Thursday, January 12th at 11:00 am. Friends and relatives will be received in the Terrace Room of Oakwood Inn, Grand Bend, commencing at 1:00 pm. A celebration of Connie’s life will begin at 2:00 pm followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living-South Huron, Box 29, Dashwood, ON, N0M 1N0 would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank all the staff of the Parkwood Hospital Palliative Care Unit who were so gracious and kind.
