WILSON: George of Exeter

August 15, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 224 Condolences

WILSON: George of Exeter

Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the age of 84. Loving husband of Sue (Insley) Wilson (April 2026 they would have celebrated 50 years together). Dear father of Cathie and Bill Wuerth of Exeter, Judi Wilson of Exeter, Tracy and Mike DeGroot of Belgrave, and the late Doug Wilson (1989). Proud grandfather of Brooke (Tylor), Owen (Alexis), Parker, Paiton; Larissa, Clair (Brad), Justin (Simon); Ainsley, Brandon, Liam and great-grandfather of Macy, Aiden, Madison, Amelia, and Sara. Dear brother-in-law of Sandi Wilson and Wanda MacIntyre. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Leslie and Davina (Adams) Wilson, siblings Betty Hockey, Ken Wilson, Peggy MacIntyre, George MacIntyre, sister-in-law Lynne Maynard, and in-laws Doug and Dorothy Insley.

George was patient, humble, kind, and modest, but most of all, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He never sought the spotlight, but his quiet strength spoke louder than words ever could. Whether it was offering a listening ear or lending a hand, he did it without hesitation. He was a proud truck driver, a profession that fit him perfectly. The miles he traveled werenโ€™t just about getting from one place to another โ€” they were a reflection of his dedication and work ethic. In his younger years you could often find him on Manitoulin Island fishing with his dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Saturday, August 23rd from 1 โ€“ 3 PM, where Georgeโ€™s funeral service will be held at 3 PM. Cremation.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Sue,,, I am sending condolences from both Don and myself on the passing of George. I was shocked to see his obit tonight. When I think of George,, I can’t help but smile. He had such a gentle way about him, but his sense of humor was priceless. I still remember way back when, when you and George first got together. A match that was obviously meant to be,, almost fifty years together.. that is incredible. If you saw one of you,, you almost always saw the other. I know it is going to be incredibly hard to walk this path alone now Sue ,, lean on your family and friends ,, and draw from your memories that you and George made together. He will never be forgotten,, he touched so many lives over the years.. That alone speaks volumes about George.. Sending big warm hugs your way,, and thinking of George tonight…with smiles…
