Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the age of 84. Loving husband of Sue (Insley) Wilson (April 2026 they would have celebrated 50 years together). Dear father of Cathie and Bill Wuerth of Exeter, Judi Wilson of Exeter, Tracy and Mike DeGroot of Belgrave, and the late Doug Wilson (1989). Proud grandfather of Brooke (Tylor), Owen (Alexis), Parker, Paiton; Larissa, Clair (Brad), Justin (Simon); Ainsley, Brandon, Liam and great-grandfather of Macy, Aiden, Madison, Amelia, and Sara. Dear brother-in-law of Sandi Wilson and Wanda MacIntyre. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Leslie and Davina (Adams) Wilson, siblings Betty Hockey, Ken Wilson, Peggy MacIntyre, George MacIntyre, sister-in-law Lynne Maynard, and in-laws Doug and Dorothy Insley.
George was patient, humble, kind, and modest, but most of all, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He never sought the spotlight, but his quiet strength spoke louder than words ever could. Whether it was offering a listening ear or lending a hand, he did it without hesitation. He was a proud truck driver, a profession that fit him perfectly. The miles he traveled weren’t just about getting from one place to another — they were a reflection of his dedication and work ethic. In his younger years you could often find him on Manitoulin Island fishing with his dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Saturday, August 23rd from 1 – 3 PM, where George’s funeral service will be held at 3 PM. Cremation.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).
