WILSON: Derek of Lucan, formerly of Hamilton and Northern Ireland

The family of Derek Wilson is deeply saddened to announce his peaceful passing, into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on June 20, 2026, with his loving wife Jeanette (nee McBride) of 61 years by his side.ย  He was loved and cherished by his children Pamela and Christopher (Talise). Devoted Granda to Ella and Owen Orlic, Scarlett and Quinn Wilson. Dear son of the late William and Phyllis Wilson of Belfast. Dear brother to sister Doreen (Martyn) McCready and brother Alan (Janet) Wilson of Belfast. Brother-in-law to Lucinda (Raymond) Marks, of Caledonia and beloved uncle to Richard, David, Karen, Stephen, Gary and Joanne.ย

Derek was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He immigrated with his family, to Canada in 1977, residing in Hamilton for 44 years and relocating to Lucan, Ontario for the past 5. He had a dedicated career in Slater Steel for 30 years, was a talented artist, lover of aviation, avid traveler and lifelong learner.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย

Derek and Jeanette were members of Philpott Church in Hamilton Ontario for 42 years, where he served on the board of Elders and several committees. His time spent in the Nursery was the highlight of many a Sunday. After moving to Lucan, they were welcomed into Community Bible Church, where Derek was privileged to have served on the Elders Team.

Derekโ€™s gracious nature, his God-given wisdom, love and integrity, flowed through every facet of his life. His dedication to his faith, and especially his sense of humor, earned him the love and respect of so many.

Family was at the heart of everything Derek did and he cherished every single moment he spent with those he loved most.

A celebration of Derekโ€™s life will be held at the Community Bible Church, 24294 Adelaide Street North, LUCAN (corner of Highway 7 and Adelaide St. N.) on Saturday, June 27th at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service, followed by a light reception.

If you are unable to attend the service in person, the family invites you watch the service live by visitingย https://www.communitybible.ca/livestream/.

In leu in flowers, if those so wish, donations to Jessicaโ€™s House Hospice are welcomed. The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding compassionate care provided by all staff at such a difficult time.
