Passed away peacefully at Queensway Long Term Care on Thursday, September 7, 2023 of Hensall at the age of 91. Loving wife of Klaas Van Wieren for over 70 years. Proud mom of Pat and Rob Olson of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Robert and Doreen Van Wieren of Mount Brydges, and Ken and Karen Van Wieren of Cambridge. Adored gramdma/oma of Shawn, Aaron and Laura; Sarah, Rosemary, Chris and Heather, Travis, Emily and Brady; Vanessa and Rob, and Brendan and Kori and great-grandma/oma of 15. Dear sister-in-law of Bill Van Wieren, Irene Zwart, and Jannie Van Wieren. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Rudy and Mary (Van Ess) Linstra, her sister and her husband Anne and Peter Renkema and her brother-in-law Herman Van Wieren.
Rita enjoyed flower arranging and tending to her beautiful gardens. If she was inside, you could find her with a set of knitting needles in her hands or crocheting a beautiful piece for her family and friends. She was proud of her preserves, baking, and handmade pieces that she entered the fair on a yearly basis. She also enjoyed attending different craft shows to show off her needle work. Together, she and Klaas enjoyed their Sunday drives through the countryside. Above all, she was proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them.
Visitation will be held at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church, 330 Huron Street West, EXETER on Tuesday, September 12th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, where Rita’s funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Private family interment Exeter Cemetery.
