Passed away peacefully at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Paul Steckle for over 60 years. Loving mother of Cam and Kathy Steckle, Brian and Bonnie Steckle, and the late Connie Steckle (1973). Proud grandma of Brent, Shawn and Rachel, Valerie and Adam; Dylan and Krista, Devon and Allison, and Darren and Olivia. Adored great-grandma of Peyton, Tyson, and Hank. Dear sister of Delphine Zehr, Joy and Corney Klassen, Eleanor Jantzi, Chuck and Tanya Erb, and Phil and Laurie Erb and sister-in-law of Esther Steckle, Ferne Mumaw, Jim and Carolyn Steckle, and Mary and Gary Foshay. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Gordon and Mabel Erb, parents-in-law Dan and Seleda Steckle, sisters Carol Erb-Gingerich, Marj Steckle, brothers-in-law Mel Zehr, Orland Jantzi, Gerald Steckle, Bill Steckle, Lloyd Mumaw, Colin Henderson, Cyril Gingerich, and sister-in-law Betty Steckle.
Kathy had a true gift for caring for others, especially through food. A passionate cook and gracious host, she believed deeply in the simple power of gathering people around a table and making sure no one ever left hungry. For 25 years, she shared that gift professionally as the Dietary Supervisor at Blue Water Rest Home, where her work went far beyond menus and schedules—she nourished residents with care and heart. Feeding people was never just a task for Kathy; it was an expression of love, hospitality, and service, most especially to her family. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she was a longtime, devoted member of Kingsfield Zurich Mennonite Church, where her quiet dedication and servant spirit reflected the values she lived every day.
Kathy’s memorial service will be held at the Kingsfield Zurich Mennonite Church, 37818 Zurich Hensall Road, ZURICH on Monday, December 29th 11 AM. Cremation with a private family interment in the Spring at Kingsfield Zurich Mennonite Cemetery.
