STANLAKE: Edward Bruce

STANLAKE:  Peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Friday, July 31, 2020, Edward Bruce Stanlake of Grand Bend, on his 93rd birthday.  Beloved husband of Ruby Jean (Jennison) Stanlake.  Loved father and father-in of Sandra and John Dietrich of Grand Bend, Dan Stanlake and Marg Miller of RR 2, Grand Bend, Ted and Laurie Stanlake of RR 1, Grand Bend and the late Jack (2004) and Sandy Stanlake of Grand Bend.  Forever loved by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Remembered by the Jennison families.  Predeceased by his mother Mary E. “Mamm” (Battram) Stanlake, father Edward John “Ted”  Stanlake and step-mother Elizabeth A. (Zavitz) Stanlake.  At Bruce’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Private Family Graveside Funeral Service will be held at a later date at the Grand Bend Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.  Bruce was a member of the Bluewater Shrine and the Blue Water Fire Brigade for several decades. He would drive to and from many parades with a retired 1925 La France fire engine where the Shriner unit raised money for the care of children’s needs. Bruce took a lot of pride in looking after the maintenance and storage of the fire engine.   If desired, memorial donations (payable directly to the charity) to Huron Shores United Church – Building Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
