SIMONSEN: Hunter John “Baby Giraffe” of Goderich

March 7, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 39 Condolences

SIMONSEN: Hunter John “Baby Giraffe” of Goderich

On Friday, February 28, 2025, Hunter joined his dad, Tommy Simonsen, in heaven, after spending a glorious 16 years bringing joy and laughter to his family and friends. We were so lucky to have him to love while we did. He always lit up the room with his one-of-a-kind smile and huge dimples!

He will be forever missed by his mother Tabatha Simonsen, siblings Jordon and Amanda (Dykstra) Mair and their daughter Mia, Keagan Simonsen, step-siblings Morgan, Wyatt and Jackson Campbell; his Grandpa Matthew Mair and Step-Grandma Jen Shufelt, his Grandmother RoseAnn Simonsen and Great-Grandmother Mary Colson; his Uncle Bob Mair, Aunty Harriet Kemsley and their daughter Mabel; his Aunt Tracy and Uncle Greg Emmerton and cousins Christina and Wade Barker and their daughter Maeson, Carly and Graeme Thompson and their son Elijah, Nicole Emmerton and Corey Farrish and their children Ryder, Hadley and Ivy, Lindsay Emmerton and her daughter Adelyn; his favourite people Big Adam and Candice Bauer and their children Abigail and Landon; his Great-Aunt Sharon Bieber-Rollings and so, so many other family members and friends. Waiting with his father to greet him in heaven are Grandma Ruth Mair, and Grandfather Thomas Simonsen.

Cremation has taken place after a private family gathering. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring, when loved ones can gather in the outdoors that Hunter loved so much.

Donations to assist Hunter’s mother with costs made to [email protected] or to the Tanner Steffler Foundation in memory of Hunter would be much appreciated by the family.

His Grandfather, Tommy was a great friend to Harold and I. He spent a lot of time with us.
Harold and Tommy were in the trucking industry and did a lot of time fixing and driving trucks together. Since he was an only child he was like a brother to Harold. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. I am so glad to hear of your love for life , your grandfather would also be very proud of you. Sorry I never knew you. Condolences to your family. I feel like I knew you through our friend Tommy. We lived in Staffa many years ago. I sent a picture to your family of Tom in the newspaper. Charlotte and Harold Parsons.

Dearest Hunter; Finding words is an extremely difficult task to do at this tragic moment in time. Coming to the conclusion that you are gone has not been easy. We just wanted to say that Gary and I were honoured to have you working for us building fences last year. Many of the customers who met you commented on how kind, thoughtful and hardworking you were. Gary was proud to have you by his side during this time to teach and to mentor you. I thought you were just an all around great young man and hearing how customers were so impressed by you made me very proud to have you as our employee, even if for a short time. Your mom always spoke of you with so much love and gratitude for having you in her life. She and I shared stories of you and my son many times as you had so many similarities. Fly high Hunter. We’re never going to forget you honey.

Tabatha and family, the sadness we feel for you cuts through our souls. Forever saddened for you.
