Passed away peacefully in her 89th year at L.H.S.C – Victoria Hospital, London on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 of Lucan. Predeceased by her loving husband Tom Rushton (April, 2016) following 66 years of marriage. Dear mother of Faye and Mike Geoghegan of London, and Bob and Nancy Rushton of Lucan. Cherished grandmother of Jenny and Dave, Jim and Nirupa; Kelsey, Matt and Ashlynn, and Hayley and Andy. Dear great-grandmother of Neesha and Cole. Eileen is survived by her sister Doris Thompson of Port Elgin. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog Charlie. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Louise Weppler, brothers Carl and Earl Weppler, and a sister Vera Haldane. Eileen continued her nursing career throughout her lifetime at Chesley Memorial Hospital, Victoria Hospital-London, and eventually retiring from University Hospital-London in 1991. A special thank you to Dr. Jessica Howard, the staff of Chartwell Riverside Retirement Residence, and the 6th floor palliative care service at L.H.S.C. for their care and compassion.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. As per Eileen’s wishes a private family service will be held with Rev. Gordon Duncan officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
Donations to London Health Sciences Foundation – Regional Cancer Program (Leukemia Research), or St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation – Parkwood Institute (Dementia Care Fund).
