Passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Monday, August 4, 2025 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Micheline Rodgers and the late Helen (Lewis) Rodgers (2003). Cherished father of Lorne and Tina Rodgers, Desmond and Sarah Rodgers and Chad Rodgers and step-father of Jason, Jamie, Corey, and Brandon and Holly. Adored grandpa of Steven, Ashley, Adrianna, Justin and Emily; Matthew and Valerie, and Jessica and Aiden, and step-papa of Tristan, Kaelan; Mya, Kylee; Marissa, and Evan. Great-grandpa of Iris. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Joan and Joe, Ricky, Robbie and Judy, Helen and Danny, Sandra and Fred, Leonard and Debbie, and Judy and Scott. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and the extended Lewis, Dubroy and Marriott families. Predeceased by his brother Tommy and his parents and step-parent Bob Scharf, and Jennie and Herbert Davies.
Dan was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was casting a line on a quiet lake or sitting around a campfire under the stars. He spent much of his working life building homes in the town of Clandeboye, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and pride. In his later years, Dan discovered a love for travel, journeying across much of the United States, enjoying several Caribbean getaways, and embracing the snowbird lifestyle with several memorable winters in Florida. He had a keen eye for beauty and history, which led to a deep appreciation for restoring antiques cars. Eventually, Dan found peace and contentment settling in the cottage country of Port Franks, where he could enjoy the nature and tranquility he cherished most.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Homes, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Thursday, August 7th from 6 – 8 PM. Dan’s Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home the following day on Friday, August 8th at 11 AM. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Dan’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
