MONTGOMERY: Carole Winnifred (Caston)

MONTGOMERY:  It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Carole Winnifred (Caston) Montgomery, 85, announce her sudden passing on January 25, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend, she passed away unexpectedly in Grand Bend, Ontario, where she was enjoying her senior years. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Grant Montgomery (2012).  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Scott and Darlene Montgomery, Greg Montgomery, and Paul and Sue Montgomery all of London.  Cherished Gramma of Katelyn Montgomery, Nicole and Mike Schuler, Matt and Maggie Sundborg, Blake Montgomery and Mae Montgomery.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of Wayne and Lorna Caston of Ipperwash.  Remembered by her dear friend and companion Len Bock and her nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Charles James and Helen Barbara (Strupat) Caston and sister Joan Milne.  At Caroleโ€™s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Caroleโ€™s Life will be held at Oriole Park Resort Community Hall, 22790 Amiens Rd, Komoka on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 1 to 3 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2 p.m  Carole was born in London Ontario. She had a thriving career at the London Free Press for many years. Her passion however, was raising her identical triplets.  Carole, or Mrs. Monty as she was affectionately known, loved hosting the boy’s friends. She was an amazing cook, and her famous spaghetti and meatballs and chocolate brownies were always the talk of the neighborhood. The family cottage in Ipperwash was often a gathering place for the boys and their friends. She will be profoundly missed.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to Community Living โ€“ London (in recognition of her grandson Blake) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Our sincere condolences to the Montgomery family in the loss of their mother/grandmother Carole. For both Carole and Lenny to find happiness and caring for each other late in life is fate for sure. We loved Carole. Her sense of humour, her caring ways towards others, she always put others before herself. Carole always dressed well and was โ€œarm candyโ€ for Lenny! Carole certainly left a footprint on our hearts and not many people have that ability. She was one of a kind and will be truly missedโค๏ธ Kathleen and Wayne Burgetz

We are so sorry for the loss of your devoted mother and grandmother. Our thoughts are with you at this time of loss.
My cousin Carole was kind and fun loving person who had a special relationship with us, my parents John and Dorothy and my children Todd and Travis. Carole and Grant were part of the โ€œStrupatโ€ years at Ipperwash. Years of family being together enjoying food, each other, bonfires and laughter. Carole often had a full house at their cottage with the triplets and their friends. Carole and Grant were my mom and dadโ€™s best friends , enjoying summers together for about fifty years. I spent many summers at Ipperwash and then my sons Todd, Travis and their families also spent a lot of time with their โ€œAuntโ€ Carole and Grant.
We are very glad that Carole spent the last thirteen years doing different things like travelling to Florida, eating in restaurants, making new relationships, and enjoying her new home. All of this while she continued to enjoy and love her grandchildren.
We will always remember Carole sitting in a lawn chair with an umbrella and a bag of licorice by the lake, pool or ocean. May she rest in peace!

I met Carole and Grant in 1999 when Sue and Paul were planning their wedding. Before the big day, Carole and I met for lunch- and immediately bonded over the discovery that one of our favourite lunches was liver and onions. A mealtime choice that our families did not endorse . We were in sync from that day on.
My Dave died in 2010, Grant in 2012. For the past 13 years, Carole and I have wintered in Florida. In our park we were known as โ€œthe mother – in- lawsโ€. We had so many good times together over those years. I am left with wonderful memories and a deep sense of loss.
Many Florida friends have been in touch to say what a friendly, vibrant and gifted woman Carole was and that she will be sadly missed. Sending my love and sympathy to all the Montgomery families .
