MOIR: Wendy (Hudson) of Ailsa Craig formerly of Ilderton

July 2, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 135 Condolences

MOIR: Wendy (Hudson) of Ailsa Craig formerly of Ilderton

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 69. Cherished wife of Gord Moir for over 49 years. Loving mom of Melissa and Ryan Jones of Ailsa Craig, Amy and Chad Gwalchmai all of West McGillivray, Chris and Beth Moir of Parkhill, and the late Robert Moir. Proud grandma of Zoe, Dakota, Cohen; Millie, Rosie, Lily, and Maxwell. Beloved daughter of Louise (Colbert) and the late Wilfred Hudson. Dear sister of Bill Hudson, Dave Hudson, Bob Hudson, and Shari and Trent Roth and sister-in-law of Heather Swinkels, and Jim and Marlene Maguire. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Catherine Hudson, sister-in-law Gail Maguire, and brother-in-law John Swinkels.

For the past few months, there has been sickness and pain, hospital beds and tears…but before that there were over the top celebrations, decorations and costumes. There was Grace before dinner and loud dining room meals. There were living room dance parties and Mamma Mia karaoke. There were Pinterest crafts, fairy gardens and horse rides. There were Christmas concerts, graduations, hockey and soccer games, horse shows and skating competitions. There was never a “no” and always a “we will figure it out” and a “how can I  help”. There were snuggles and giggles, back tickles, kisses and LOTS of “I love yous” and at the center of it all always and forever… is you.

A celebration of Wendyโ€™s beautiful life will be held at the Lucan Community Centre, 263 Main Street, LUCAN on Thursday, July 3rd at 11 AM with a gathering of sharing memories to follow. A private family graveside will be held at Medway Cemetery.

Wendy’s service will be available Thursday afternoon (after 3 PM) by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh

Donations to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or the LHSF โ€“ Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Louise, Gord, Bill, Dave, Sheri and families:
We were so sad to hear of Wendyโ€™s passing. Iโ€™m still having a hard time believing we will never see her smiling face or have another great chat with her. I feel privileged to have met Wendy through you Louise being our neighbour. Itโ€™s wonderful when you have a friend in a good neighbour and get to meet their family members and build new friendships. Wendy was an inspiration to me as we enjoyed similar giftings and interests. I would have loved an opportunity to plan an event with her. She was a fountain of ideas and creativity. I admired her love and dedication for her children and grandchildren! I enjoyed every opportunity I had to visit with her whenever she was next door or popping into Ungerโ€™s with her mom on one of their โ€œ crop touring โ€œ outings.
Despite her illness, Wendyโ€™s determination to follow through on commitments amazed me. I can only imagine the huge void she has left in your family. Iโ€™m praying that your precious memories will become forever treasures in your hearts!

Anyone who knew her could not help but love her. She was just that amazing. She was a beacon of light in a world that so be so dark sometimes.

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a nice afternoon in the barn with Wendy and Gord โ€ฆ trimming the minis feet a month ago.
We have spent some wonderful times working with the horses, discussing foods, and the antics of our grandchildren.
I am going to miss our conversations.
