MITCHELL: Joseph Patrick “Joe” of Plattsville, formerly of Lucan

November 18, 2019 By Haskett Funeral Homes 28 Condolences

MITCHELL: Joseph Patrick “Joe” of Plattsville, formerly of Lucan

The man, the myth, the legend, to us he is a husband, Dad, brother, uncle, and friend. Our daughters Lauren, Rebecca, Katrina, and Aliena will make sure he stays with us. In keeping with Joe’s style, he would like a traditional Irish Wake, with laughter and great stories. Joe’s favourite colour was plaid, so in tribute to him, we ask you wear your jeans, and anything plaid. We ask in lieu of flowers and donations, that you take your family out to dinner and tell them how much you love them. To us that would be the greatest gift, as our girls are to us. You are my everything Joe. I love you, Susan.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wilmot Rod & Gun Club, 2607 Bleams Road, New Hamburg on Thursday, November 21st from 3 – 9 PM, with words of remembrance at 6:30 PM. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan.

Offer Condolence for the family of MITCHELL: Joseph Patrick “Joe” of Plattsville, formerly of Lucan

    Susan and Girls
You know how much I loved my Joe (And not in a weird way in the words of Joe) I am so glad I got to sit and hold his hand in the weeks before he left this world. I am sorry I was away the day of his gathering.
What can I say he was my best salesman ever. He taught me so much and was so knowledgeable. He treated his customers so well they always came back and wanted to deal with him. Boy did he know his trucks! I still tell all my new salesman to be like my Joe was when dealing with customers!
He was a no bull shit, no filter kind of guy and that was what I loved about him. He lived his life right, played hard, loved harder. Susan the way you advocated for him, please know he talked about that with me and he couldn’t be more thankful for you. You were his pit bull! I know he is up sharing a beer or two or lets be honest more, with my John. They are looking down at us and enjoying talking about us. Text me anytime Susan..
    Love Michele Anstett

    My condolences to Joe’s family
What a genuine good guy! As a truck salesman Joe often visited my workplace. Such a good nature and impish grin with a twinkle in his eye implying another story or joke was forth coming even throughout his ongoing battle & treatments. Joe remains an inspiration warming so many hearts!
They cut me down and I leap up high.
I am the life that’ll never die.
I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me.
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

One of Joe’s quotes that I often think of is “if you aren’t living on the edge you are taking up too much room”. Not sure if it was his own or if he “borrowed” it but he did live it. He kept us sharp, taught us allot, made us better and wont be forgotten. Deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Susan, his Family and his Friends. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Leasa and Barry.

It is with great sadness that we hear of Joe’s passing. I’m sure many people aren’t aware of the wonderful deeds done quietly by Joe and Susan along the way. I only got to know Joe working with him for a few years but I am proud to count him as a friend. He was the most knowledgeable truck salesman that I have ever known and was always willing to help anyone. Condolences to Susan and the family.

    Susan and girls ,

So sorry for your loss, such a great person, always so willing to help with anything you needed . I will always remember the kindness and the respect he had for others , and the respect many people had for him ,and the love he had for his family. I remember Joe
In days gone by we drank each other’s health, and laughed as though
our days would never end. Sure, who’s to know
Though I am far away and that was long ago
    I still remember Joe

On his appointed day I’ll wear the plaid and have a small swally of “the creature”

    Condolences to the family

We will miss “JFM” here at Alpine. He was always a joy to be around with his wit and satire. We will keep his spirit alive with his stories and jokes. Joe made our lives better and I’m sure many other people he touched feel the same way. God Bless you Susan as I know how much you completed Joe.

Joe was a great man and a good friend. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I can still remember the day he started at Altruck. I took him under my wing and showed him around. Ever since then the two of us connected. I felt pain as to what he had to go thru with the sickness, but now he is with the angel’s and no more pain. He will always be here in your heart, and everyone’s memory. My condolences to the family.

We are so sorry to hear about this. I know Joe was in a lot of pain and you were unable to live the busy life you were used to. Joe was always a lot of laughs and I very much enjoyed the drives we had back to Kirby’s. Hugs to you all. Brenda Alderson and Ron Kerr.
