BILL METCALFE: Unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, Bill (William Herbert) Metcalfe of Grand Bend, age 86. Beloved husband of Mary A. (Kinahan) Edwards-Metcalfe and the late Maria-Claire Metcalfe (1984). Loved father and father-in-law of Marie and Jerry Shiner, Bill Jr. and Cathy Patton, Jennifer and Iain Hagreen, Theresa (deceased 1998) and Morris Hill; Stephen and Karen Edwards, David Edwards and Norma DeLorenzo, Mark and Michelle Edwards. Cherished Grandpa/Gramps/Poppa/Groppa to 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A lifelong career in marketing and communications led Bill to live in London ON; Montreal; Toronto Island and Goderich. He was an active member of many community and business groups wherever he lived. Bill was lucky in life and love. After Maria died in 1984, he and Mary Edwards were married. They lived happily together for over 25 years, settling in Huron Woods, Grand Bend. Bill’s was a life well lived. He was engaged and engaging; all who knew him will miss his vitality; intelligence; good humour and wisdom. He died a week before his 87 birthday, still sharp as a tack and embracing each new day. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at The Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend, followed by a reception. See www.OakwoodResort.ca website for map and directions.
