MELANSON: Stuart of Nairn

April 11, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 69 Condolences

MELANSON: Stuart of Nairn

It is with great shock and sadness that the family of Stuart Melanson (of Nairn), announce his sudden passing in his 63rd year. Survived by Linda, his loving wife and best friend of 42 years.  Very proud father of Laura (Ben) Mitchell and Jason (Shauna) Melanson. Best Grandpa ever to William and Emma Mitchell and Remeny Melanson. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Paul (Judy) Melanson, Lynne (the late Rob) Stewart, Allan (Tammy) Melanson, George Melanson, Donna (Jeff) Fawcett, and Karen and Jim Dorman. Favourite truck ride partner to his BFFF (best furry friend forever), R.J. Predeceased by his parents, Edward โ€œPoppyโ€ and Freda Melanson, his in-laws Bill and Lucille Evans, and his grand-puppy Junior.

Stu treasured his time with his many friends, whether ATVing or enjoying time at his boat at Bridgeview Marina. Even on freezing cold winter days, he would be excited to have hotdog campfires with his kids and grandkids.

His greatest accomplishment in life was the creation of Arc-1 Welding Supplies, which he built into a very successful company in 12 short years.

Everyone was his buddy and if you ever needed anything, he โ€œknew a guy!โ€; and if there was ever a time for heavy machinery use, he was your first volunteer.

Stuart will be missed more than words can ever say. โ€˜Til we meet again XOXO.

A celebration of Stuartโ€™s life will be held at 22596 Highbury Avenue, Ilderton on Saturday, June 21st, beginning at 2 PM. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served and please BYOB so that we may all raise a glass to Stuart.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your spouse, child, grandchild, friend (furry and/or human), or have a campfire and roast some hot dogs. Time waits for no one. Donations in his name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Linda, Jason, Laura, and family. I was so so sad to hear about Stewart’s passing. He was supposed to come in that week to see me. I was looking forward to hearing about Florida trip and more stories about his grandbabies. He just adored them. He always loved to tell me what was going on with them and the family. He was so happy to be going to Florida. He always looked for John so he could talk about Corvettes and cars. We will sure miss him. Rest in peace Stu. Jerri ,John and Tyler.

It was my privilege to know Stuart through the amazing ATV trips (our organizer!). He was the go-to guy for any question or issues with the ATV’s and always willing to help “fix it”. He will be missed on the trails for sure, but most of all missed deeply by his loving family. Sincere condolences.

    April 12, 2025 at 10:20 AM

I would like to send my deepest condolences on the loss of Stuart from myself and my family. My late husband and I had known Stuart for many years. He was an incredibly special man and this world has just suffered a great loss. Stuart was the driving force and glue to so many things and events. My late husband David Brander thought the world of Stuart and respected him as a business person and a great human being. It was because of Stuart that David took the time to enjoy a lot of things that he did in his life before his passing. Without Stuart, I know he never wouldโ€™ve done a lot of them and Iโ€™m sure thatโ€™s the case for a lot of people that were lucky enough to call him a friend.
You could see that Stuart truly enjoyed people and loved life. He was truly a great example of all of us to strive to be. Rest in peace, my friend.

This was a great shock for us to hear of the sudden loss of Stu. Stuโ€™s family and his canine companions were very special to him. He was always the man in the know, or where to find the answer. He never backed away from helping when asked. But always found the time to enjoy his many hobbies, especially his boat. Stu was the organizer of the Menโ€™s Wednesday night suppers at the boat. Recently said he was looking forward to starting the 2025 Wednesday nights. He will be missed for his many stories and friendship.
