After a courageous battle with cancer for the past two years, Dan Meidinger (of Kilworth formerly of London, Exeter and Zurich), sadly lost his fight on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 66 (born April 16, 1959).
Dan is survived by the love of his life, Lynn Naovarath, and his beloved children, Becky & Dave Meriam and Tim Meidinger & Rachael Benedict. He is also fondly remembered by Lynn’s sons, Zach & Alex Naovarath.
The pride and joys of his life were Dan’s grandchildren: Avalyn, Bella & Dani Meriam, Cohen & Bria Meidinger and Maggie & Reid Frymire. They were his favourite people and he loved to support them in all that they were a part of. They will all deeply miss their Grandad Dan.
Dan is also survived by his loving parents, Stephen & Patricia Meidinger and his favourite siblings; Ron & Cathy Meidinger, Rosemary & Gerard Ducharme, Lori & Murray Armstrong and Mary Jo & Kevin Drager, as well as his many nephews, nieces and their families, and Lynn’s extended family.
Dan grew up in Zurich, where he enjoyed sports and playing the guitar. He graduated from Fanshawe College and enjoyed a long career in Finance / Accounting that led him to work for many years at various hospitals in Huron County and then eventually to LHSC until his retirement. Dan wasn’t one to stay retired for long and became a consultant helping out various businesses in his retirement. One of those consulting positions even led him to work with his daughter, Becky, which was a special time for both of them.
Dan also worked with his son, Tim, on a renovation house project, where they flipped and sold a house together. Dan always loved to spend time with Lynn, his children, grandchildren and his precious dogs, Spencer and the late Oliver.
Dan also enjoyed travelling, going to the trailer and attending concerts. He loved to go out with his golfing friends but also encouraged his children and grandchildren to enjoy the sport with him.
Dan was always up for a beer, a laugh and to share a good story. While we all think his time with us was too short, he lived a good life and he will be missed dearly.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Friday, October 17th from 3 – 6 PM, with words of remembrance at 4 PM. In honour of Dan, please wear his favourite colour, purple.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider donating to two causes close to Dan: A Trust in Dan’s name to support his grandchildren’s youth sports organizations (cash, cheques (payable to Becky Meriam) or e transfer ([email protected]) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).
