January 3, 2015 By Haskett Funeral Homes 61 Condolences

McROBERTS: William “George” of London Twp

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of W. George McRoberts, a lifetime resident of London Twp, at the age of 71 on New Year’s Day, 2015.  He leaves behind broken hearted his beloved spouse Nancy Newton.  Predeceased by his parents Bill and Hope (Wannamaker) McRoberts.  Survived by his sister Sharon and Russ Fox of Granton, daughters Lee and Brad Dunbar of Lucan and Kerri McRoberts of Whitehorse, and grandchildren Taylor, Jake and Paige Dunbar, and Elias and Mylo McRoberts-Barton. He will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will forever cherish their times with him. Prior to his long illness he was an active community member: long-time operator of Bryanston General Store, cub leader, farmer, curler, golfer, avid canoeist and outdoorsman.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Thursday evening 7-9 PM and on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 11 AM with Pastor Paul Vollick officiating. Cremation with spring interment Medway Cemetery, Middlesex Centre.

Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

After a long brave battle he is at rest.

    My dear Nancy,

I am so very sorry to hear about George. I know how very special he was to you. Although I had only met him the one time at our wedding I felt akin to him and his love of the natural world. It has been a long battle fro him over the years, but I am sure that your love and care made his journey all the better. He is in a better place now, away from all the troubles and hardships of this world. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that your love for him helped him through the hardships and suffering.

Our love goes out to you.

We are so sad for all of you and for the loss of our dear nephew and friend Georgie. He was a kind and good man. Great Memories. May all of you find Peace in the future days ahead.

Nancy, Sharon, Russ, Lee, Kerri and Families,

    Such fond memories for sure!
George and I met at the curling rink in the late 60’s – George, Mac, Roy, and Bob McRoberts just to name a few from the Junior Farmers.
Later “our boys” formed their own team and curled together for years. No matter what it was, George was always up for the challenge, from winning their share of local bonspiels, to offering his services as “George the mover” – a better friend, there wasn’t one!
May all your cherished memories, good times and the knowledge that he touched us all in so many wonderful ways, surround you now and in the weeks and months to come !
