August 25, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 8 Condolences

MCLAY: Brian Allen of Grand Bend, formerly of Lucan

Passed away peacefully at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday, August 22, 2025, in his 71st year.

Cherished husband of Beth (Pollet) for 17 years. Loving step-dad of Briton Cooper, and Laine Cooper. Dearly missed brother and brother-in-law of Paul (Deborah) McLay, Craig (Sandra) McLay, John (Sue) Pollet, Peter (Janet) Pollet, and Jane (George) Baribeau. Greatly missed by his beloved dog, Winston. Predeceased by his parents Glen and Joanne McLay.

Those fortunate enough to have known Brian will remember him for his wit and caring personality. He leaves behind a legacy of love, light, and laughter.

Brian will be fondly remembered by many of his clients he helped during his career as a bankruptcy trustee at McLay & Company Inc. He was devoted to helping everyone who walked through his door.

In keeping with Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

    I was sorry to hear of Brian’s passing, as I know he had been successful in fighting the cancer for several years.
    Although I wasn’t close to Brian, as a competitor of his I was very aware of his success as a practitioner and, of course, his buoyant personality.
    We had a few chats after his retirement whenever we met, which I enjoyed, and found his positive attitude amidst his health challenge inspiring. No doubt he will be sorely missed by those closest to him.

    I worked in the insolvency field with Brian for many decades. Brian’s unique way of interpreting legislation always kept me on my toes. Brian had knack for dealing with unusual situations, always to the benefit of the parties involved. The constant smile on his face and twinkle in his eye are forever etched in my memory.

    Beth, and all Brian’s family & friends;

    Our sincere condolences in the passing of Brian. Brian was a very valued customer for many years, at a couple different homes. I always enjoyed his wit and humour during our visits. He was always a good and fair guy to deal with. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace Brian.

    I had the pleasure of working for Brian for many years. He was one of the best employers I ever worked for. Always had a kind word and a good morning and good night every day.

    I am very sorry to read this. I worked with Brian a number of years ago when I was articling to be a trustee. Over the years we had many laughs. As an articling student he gave me a lot of his time and I will be forever grateful for his assistance helping me achieve my goals. We lost touch after he retired, but his wit and some of the laughs we shared will never be forgotten.
