Doug passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Seaforth Community Hospital on Friday, June 26, 2026 in his 85th year. Cherished husband of Anne (Charters) McGregor for 65 years. Proud dad of Barbara and Rick Dalrymple, the late Brian (2019) and Dianne McGregor. Loving grandpa of Craig and Brittany, Janelle and Luuk, Kelli, and Matthew and great-grandpa of Jackson, Nicole, Kenny, Melanie, Leah, Zara, and Zage. Dearly missed by his gator companion, J.D. Dear brother and brother-in-law of John and Mary McGregor, Katherine and Eric Judge, Marjorie Middleton, and Bill and Marlene Charters. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Martha (Cobb) McGregor, brother-in-law Gene Middleton.
Doug was a hardworking, no-fuss man who spent many years operating his backhoe and farming. He enjoyed simple pleasures—checking the fields, taking rides in his Gator with his dog, and doing things his own way. Stubborn at times and never much for change, Doug was exactly who he was, and those who knew him wouldn’t have wanted him any other way.
A come and go celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Seaforth Legion, 123 Main Street, SEAFORTH on Friday, July 10th from 12 – 3 PM. A private family interment will be held at the Egmondville Cemetery.
Donations to the Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Seaforth Community Hospital, Dr. Hammond, staff with Saint Elizabeth, Ontario Health at Home, and the staff at the cancer clinic at LHSC – Victoria Hospital for the care shown to Doug and his family.
