
Passed away peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Criag with family by her side on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the age of 106. Beloved wife of the late George McEwen. Cherished mother of Sheryl McEwen, and Arlene McEwen and mother-in-law William Lumsden. Adored grandmother of Mary and David Smith, Barbara and Vincent Pelkman, Jean and Robert Abbott, Jim and Kim Lumsden, Douglas and Darlene Lumsden, Teresa Beets, Vincent and Leeanne Walter and great-grandmother of many. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Marion Lumsden, son Ross McEwen, sister Mary Sutherland and her brother-in-law Donald McEwen.
Mabel lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family. Born and raised on a farm in Ailsa Craig, she carried the values she learned there throughout her remarkable 106 years. Whether tending her garden, preparing meals that brought loved ones together, or offering a helping hand to neighbours, Mabel made everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her warmth, resilience, and generous spirit have touched countless lives, and her simple philosophyโ”Just be real kind to each other”โremains a lasting gift to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral home, Lucan on Friday, June 26th from 12 โ 1 PM. Where Mabelโs funeral service will be held at 1 PM. Interment Mars Hill Cemetery.
