My sincere condolences to Carrie, friends and family. My first year as a young PE teacher at Medway HS featured Steve and all his Grade 10 classmates. A very athletic and fun group that made me feel welcome from day one. Though Steve was a tremendous athlete he will always be remembered for his spontaneous smile and good natured demeanour towards his classmates.

Like others we were shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of Steve.
At such a time as this, we recall our version of , “We remember when.”
For us we remember the hockey days of the 80’s when Steve and our son played together in Ilderton.
We remember the bond of the hockey parents, hot coffee, cold arenas, early morning practice, snowy drives, games won and games lost,,but what all seemed important then pales with the news of this tragedy.

We extend our heartfelt sorrow and prayers.

    Mike, Juliane and Carrie,

We lost a hellava good man. I am deeply saddened by this news and will always remember Steve as pound for pound the toughest guy I know. He had a heart of gold and was just an awesome guy that would do anything for anyone.

Steve wore #15 when he played for the Irish. Ironically, there is a hockey player statue in front of the Lucan arena wearing #15 which we used to joke was to honour Steve. I will think of him every time I drive by the arena and remember all the good times we had at the mill.
