
MARTENS: Peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, December 30, 2022, Anne Maria (Kester) Martens of Exeter, formerly of Carleton Place and Crediton, age 83. Beloved wife of the late Arnold Gerardus Martens (2013). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Harriet and Rick Soudant of Carleton Place, Joe and Marilyn Martens of Pittsburgh, Mary โFrunceโ and Dave Flynn of Waterloo, and Dan and Julie Martens of Woodstock. Cherished Oma of Lindsay, Kelly (Taylor), Matt, Owen, Reese, Scott, Emily, Justin, Grayden, Travis, and Luke.
Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mary Kester of Dashwood, Marius and Ria Martens of London; and Ina Kester, Joop and Ria Kester, Tineke Kester, Nettie Kester, Corrie Kester, Thea and Peter van der Drift, Ad and Adrienne Kester, and Gerard Kester and Inge Berendsen, all in Holland. Anne will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families.
Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mathilda Kester, sisters Leny Martens and Tillie Van Leeuwen, and brothers Jan, Adrian, Leo, Kees, Tom, and Nico, and brothers- and sisters-in-law Annie and Koos van der Knaap, Martin and Lil Martens, Jerry Van Leeuwen, Johan and Miet Martens, Marinus and Truus Martens, Zuster Evarista Johanna Martens, Wim Martens, Jan Martens, Francina โSienโ and Tom Smits, Tony and Martha Martens, and Marietje and Jan Guns.
Anne farmed with Arnold in Crediton for 43 years and then enjoyed 20 years of retirement in Carleton Place and Exeter, and loved her winters in Lake Wales, Florida. She was very social and enjoyed playing cards and other games with family and friends. She was known for her green thumb and beautiful sunflowers, fun spirit, kindness, and generosity. You can honour her memory by doing a kind deed or by making a memorial donation to a charity of your choice.
At Anneโs request, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Mount Carmel on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1 pm. The Rev. Fr. Tony Laforet Celebrant. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.
