MARTELL: John “Rocky” Thomas

Martell: Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at Bluewater Health C.E.E. Hospital, Petrolia, Tuesday, October 18, 2011, John “Rocky” Thomas Martell, age 81. Beloved husband of Laurel (Davidson) Martell. Loved father of John Martell of Petrolia, Colleen Martell and partner Dennis Ensom of Sarnia and Doug Martell and partner Fran Dougherty of Grand Bend. Dear brother of James Martell and his wife Pat of Blue Point. Remembered by his niece Joan, nephews Jim, Joe, Tom, Kelly and their families. Predeceased by his parents James and Isabel (O’Donnell) Martell. Rocky was born in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario on January 28, 1930 and came to the Sarnia area and after 32 years he retired from DuPont, St. Clair River Site, Corunna. Upon retirement moved to Grand Bend and enjoyed many years there with Laurel. Rocky loved to do woodworking, but most of all he loved to go fishing. Cremation has taken place. A memorial funeral mass was celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Father Thomas Donohue celebrant. Interment was at St. Joseph’s R.C. Cemetery, Corunna, Saturday at 2 p.m. Fr. Tony Del Ciancio officiated. Special thanks to Fiddick’s Nursing Home and the C.E.E. Hospital for their loving care of our father. We would like to thank Dad’s fellow parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary and the C.W.L. for all their prayers. Particular thanks go to Fr. Tony Del Ciancio and Ginette Cormier of St. Philip’s, Petrolia, for their support and prayers while our father was at Fiddick’s and C.E.E. Hospital. In lieu of flowers, Rocky supported the London Health Sciences Centre, Cancer Clinic, or donations to the charity of your choice.

Memorial Tree

Each year we hold a tree dedication ceremony at Morrison Dam in Exeter. We purchase a tree to be planted in memory of the lives lost from the previous year.

Our Service Coverage Area

Service AreaWe are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Potential Additional Transportation Fees

$150 - If transport requires more than one person, additional fee charged per person required
$150 - If transport occurs outside Mon-Fri, 9-5 business hours
