I am very sorry to hear that Allan has passed on. My condolences to Selina and family. Allan was an interesting, thoughtful and frequently, humorous person. When I was a new Rotarian, he helped me understand the organization. He drove me twice to the Rotary Leadership Institute, where he was a regular instructor. Within a relatively short time, I became the club president at London-Lambeth, and relied on Allan’s support, as well as that of several other long-service members. Allan will be missed by fellow Rotarians as well as his extended family and many friends.

I treasure many memories, always loaded with humour and good information. He phoned me Thursday at supper, concerned about my health. The next night he was gone. A true friend that I shall miss very much.

It was a long but exciting journey for Allan to give his heart to Jesus. Allan had question after question, and his own opinion to overcome. I have to miss the funeral but Linda and I send our love and gratitude. Thanks , Allan, for the joy of knowing you.

I first met Allan in early 1991- referred by a mutual friend – as a tax preparer for my new business.
We quickly became friends and had many lunches often ending with the server asking if we would like dessert. He would ask what types of pie they had. Usually, he picked apple pie. The server would ask “Scoop of Ice Cream with that” They would ask if he wanted it heated. He would say yes, then pause, then say “but not the ice cream”. What a wry sense of humour.
This is but one example over the years of his humour, wit, thoughtful insights, compassion and commitment to Rotary. I am certainly going to miss him.

I am so very sorry to hear that Allan has passed away. Although my time with him in Rotary—during those few years in the Passport Club—was relatively short, I treasure those moments as truly lovely memories. He made a wonderful and lasting impression.

I had been following his posts on Facebook and always found them thoughtful and insightful—they were truly a pleasure to read. His fundraising efforts through cycling were nothing short of heroic—such an inspiration. He was a very special individual.

In 2021, I had the privilege of preparing a Rotary video—an interview with Allan—which I’m attaching here. I hope it may offer a meaningful and comforting memory of him. It is certainly one that I hold dear, and I hope you will find it the same.

I probably only met my cousin, Allan, personally, about half a dozen times. But somehow he was always there, from my age 12 first visit to Ontario, to my father’s funeral 4 years later, and a few other related occasions. He was highly respected and intelligent … besides being a great comic. (Apparently I ratted him out for under age beer drinking in 1967. Funny how he remembers but I don’t!)
Every day I looked for his eloquent FB posts and it’s hard to believe there won’t be any more.
    Sadly,
    Marie Jeanne (Loiselle) Lawrence
