LITTLE: E. Eleanor (Robson) of Ilderton

January 10, 2026 By Haskett Funeral Homes 49 Condolences

LITTLE: E. Eleanor (Robson) of Ilderton

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Eva Eleanor (Robson) Little at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on January 9, 2026 at the age of 100. Beloved wife of the late Mervyn Little (1984). Dear aunt of Dr. Chris Robson (Lisa) of Grand Bend, Sheila Thompson (Doug) of London, Marcia Robson of London, Gina Finch (Bill) of Brights Grove, Glenis Hamilton (Mike) of Pennsylvania, Margo Collver (Keith) of Denfield, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Eleanor will be greatly missed by her cousin Jeanne Coyle of Michigan. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Eva (Cunningham) Robson, and her brothers Tom Robson and George Robson.

Growing up on the family farm, Eleanor began teaching in one room school houses in Middlesex before moving on to James Hillier in Brantford, where she built many meaningful friendships along the way. She lived a life with acts of generosity and kindness, finding joy in life and sharing it with others. She loved nothing more than welcoming family and friends into her home.

A special heartfelt thanks to all the compassionate caregivers who supported Eleanor in her final days.

Visitation will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 12656 Thirteen Mile Road, Denfield on Thursday, January 15th  from 10 AM – 11 AM, where Eleanor’s funeral service will begin at 11 AM with the Rev. Andra O’Neill officiating. Interment St. George’s Anglican Cemetery.

A recording of Eleanor’s service will be available Friday, January 16th by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh

In lieu of flowers donations to the St. George’s Anglican Church, St. Georges Anglican Cemetery, Ailsa Craig & Area Food Bank, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Words can’t express my eternal gratitude to Eleanor for the honour she bestowed on my dad. Through her kindness and generosity, she sponsored a banner in Ilderton to recognize my dad, Harold Noyes, for his service in WWII. I remember dad speaking of Eleanor and family. He often spoke of Tom as well. If our world had more people like Eleanor, what a lovely world it would be. My Aunt Donna Peterson often spoke fondly of Eleanor and her kind heart

Eleanor and her brother Tom were some of the finest folks we have ever met. After we left Ilderton in 2004, Eleanor and I stayed in touch. We would have a “chin-wag” on the phone every couple of months. She was always interested in what we were up to and had a memory for details that was impressive. I will miss her a lot. Our condolences to Margo and her family.

So sorry to hear the passing of Eleanor. Before COVID I would love visiting her she was a sweet woman. She was my Gram, Georgina Brown’s cousin. I was so into my family tree history and she sat with me and gave me a wealth of information. Beautiful stories and sent me home with packs of pictures. I really am sad I didn’t make it back to her.

My sincere sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Eleanor Little. I fondly remember Eleanor from when she was my Grade 8 teacher “Miss Robson” at James Hillier Elementary School in Brantford, way back in 1966. She was a real inspiration to me. I remember her as a kind, encouraging, and thoughtful teacher. I also remember her dear husband, Mr. Little, who was the principal at James Hillier at that time. May they dwell in God’s perpetual light, and rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of visiting Eleanor with my cousin Elvy. I was so happy to hear Eleanor mention my Dad George Hall who has been gone so long ago. What a wonderful lady, always smiling and showing such interest to everyone.

Eleanor was a well respected Vice Principal at James Hillier School in Brantford. Several of the teaching staff came to Ilderton to visit with Eleanor and Merv when they first married. Several of the staff came again to visit Eleanor to celebrate her one hundredth birthday. She was a dynamic lady and will always hold a special spot in my heart.

  19. Sheila M. ( Hillier student)

    January 12, 2026 at 10:22 PM

“Miss” Robson was my favourite teacher at Hillier.
She followed the curriculum but encouraged originality.
    Everyone liked her!

    A multi-tasker – a yardstick wasn’t just a mathematical aid;
It was a tool to measure poor posture.
Lots of giggles- but no slouchers by end of year.
    She encouraged comments -never judgmental.
She was respected , funny and inspiring.
    Our very own Jean Brodie.

    January 12, 2026 at 7:32 PM

My deepest sympathy on the passing of Eleanor. She was truly a special lady.
I have fond memories of visiting Ilderton with my mom over the years. Eleanor’s warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in people allowed her to connect with those of all ages. I can easily imagine a classroom of students at James Hillier School mesmerized by Miss Robson. Eleanor had a great sense of humour, and I will never forget how she would respond affectionately to something unexpected with an “Oh, Merv” or “Oh, Nancy,” depending on whom she was speaking to.
May your memories of Eleanor provide you comfort and warmth during this time of loss.

Eleanor was a walking encyclopedia even at 100 years. She was my grade 8 teach at S.S. No.4 and John’s grade 1 teacher at S.S.No.11 and we lived in the same neighborhood so visits with her were knowledgeable and memorial.
She was a very special lady and made you feel special also.
She was fortunate to have such a supportive and caring family, may your memories bring you comfort and peace at this time.

To all Eleanors family and friends.

A beautiful lady who lived a generous, spirited and gifted century. She will be missed by many.

” The beauty of a memory – is that it’s always there
Like something in your pocket – you can take it anywhere
And when your heart is heavy, and your eyes are filled with tears
You can focus on a memory, and travel through the years
And as you travel on in life,
    Take comfort as you go
In a lifetime of “sweet memories”
Of one who loved you so!
