  1. Doug

    January 27, 2021 at 9:22 PM

I remember moving to the community and meeting Doug Lightfoot driving bus and watching his grandchildren play hockey. It was an honour to know Doug. What a fine gentleman.

    January 25, 2021 at 3:29 PM

The Ratz family would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Phyllis, Steve and families.
I have a lot of fond memories of Doug, starting back in the 70s when he did our custom silo filling, and corn picking.
These were always big events on the farm and those were the days when we actually stopped for dinner and supper and
lunch in the evening when we finished the day! The first times he arrived with Harry Hirtzel and then Larry Jones, and then eventually with Steve and Mike.
I remember Doug as one of the hardest working men that Ive ever met, as well as a Federation of agriculture supporter,
a faithful church member, a volunteer firefighter and of course as our local Pride Seed dealer. I especially remember him as a friend.
Steve and Phyllis, we wish you all the best going forward without Doug to share memories with you. Another good man gone far too soon!
    Roger and Belle Ratz

I’m shocked to see that Doug has passed. Phyllis and family, help one and another through this sad time. Mourn, it is right to do so, share thoughts and stories, call on friends and neighbours, it is right to do so.
I remember an orange pick-up – maybe you prefer not to, bus driving, a sense of humour – just a few memories.

A man dedicated to the land and family, gone too soon.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Rest in Peace, Doug

Dear: Phyllis, Steve (Mary Ann), Kristyn, Dylan (Meghan), Cadyn (Shania), Paige (Jake), Todd, Taylar & Extended Families . . .

Our hearts are heavy with sadness after we learned the heartbreaking news about the sudden passing of a Crediton neighbour, Doug. There is no greater grief than the loss of an especially important man in your life, who was taken so suddenly and at such a young age. We are grieving alongside you and praying for strength and peace in the difficult days ahead. Treasure the wonderful memories and happy moments Doug has blessed each of you with, as these moments will bring a warm smile to your heart. We will remember Doug as a good man with a big heart. He was kind, caring, thoughtful, generous, knowledgeable and he touched a lot of lives with his friendship and years of service with the Crediton community.

You have so many wonderful family, friends, neighbours & community grieving along side you also โ€“ please find strength by leaning on them for faith, courage, comfort, and support. May it be of some comfort to know that Dougโ€™s health struggles are over, and he is now resting in peace and reunited with Mike. His legacy continues in you all . . .

Although itโ€™s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. ~ Author Unknown ~

    Dear Phyllis, Steven and Grandchildren,
Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Doug. Does not seem that long ago that we were together saying goodbye to Mel and then Don and sharing laughs and just being together. Unfortunately with COVID we will not have the same togetherness, but the love and sympathy we share will be the same.
Treasure your memories of Doug and hold them close to your hearts where he will always remain and remember that LOVE never dies.
RIP Doug, until we meet again. We Love you!
    Love and Sympathy,
    Linda and Edward
