LANE: Mary Catherine (Rowland)

February 21, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 70 Condolences

LANE: Mary Catherine (Rowland)

It is with sadness that we announce the death of our mother on February 20th, 2025 at Huron Hospice.  Predeceased by her husband Jack Lane, daughter-in-law Susan Lane, grandson Elliot Lane and son Rob Lane.

Loving mother of Brian Lane, Barry Lane, Denise (Lane) and John Rishworth, Brendan and Julie (Ciccarelli) Lane, Sean and Cathy (Sowerby) Lane.  Loving grandmother to Tori, Kirk and Allison, Todd and Schaefer, Rachael, Jack, Owen and Lindsay, Oliver and Amy, Kyli and Ro, Mikenna and Mathias, Jim, Jack, and Erin.

Mary Catherine will be missed by sisters-in-law Margaret Rowland, Rosemary Flanagan, Annette Bartel, and Evolina Lane. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Previously deceased by her siblings Lou and Anne Rowland, Lorraine and Martin Purcell,  Ed Rowland, Bea and Tom Kale, Ken Lane, and Marie and Harvey Mitchell.

Mary Catherine was born in Brussels on September 6, 1930 to the late Mary (Reynolds) and Edward Rowland and was predeceased by dear step-father Jack McIver.  She was a 1951 graduate of St. Josephโ€™s School of Nursing in London, Ontario.  In later years, she was a Director on the Seaforth Hospital Board and a founding member of the Huron Hospice, continuing to take her nursing experience to those who needed it.  We are comforted in knowing that her life came full circle from being a giver to a receiver of the service and support of the tranquil and peaceful environment at Huron Hospice.

“A life well lived”

Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St. W., SEAFORTH. Funeral mass will take place at St. Patrickโ€™s Catholic Church, Dublin, on Wednesday, February 26,2025 at 11am with Father Philip Joseph, presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huron Hospice and would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Denise, the Lane lads & all your families-
Your Mom (& your Dad from childhood)shared a very deep bond with my Mom Rose (McQuaid)Burke.
Doug & I were also blessed to have a special connection to them.In 1971,they gave us their Bayfield cottage for a 2-day honeymoon. In 2003,when I asked Jack to give Mom’s eulogy,he did so with humour & deep affection for his favourite Aunt while Mary Catherine stood as part of the CWL honour guard.
Your parents were a “class act from the get-go…backbones of steel, wonderful smiles & a capacity for & really caring about others!” Earth Angels indeed!
“Those who weave colour into our lives leave us with a tapestry of beautiful memories”-Irish poet.
May your memories wrap you in comfort & bring you special peace.
Dia Beannacht Leat (God Bless You).
