JACOBS: Johannes Cornelis Jacobus “John”

May 1, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 54 Condolences

JACOBS: Johannes Cornelis Jacobus “John”

Surrounded by the love of his family, John passed away peacefully at South Huron Hospital on his 92nd birthday, April 29, 2025. Cherished husband of Maria “Mary” (Vermue) Jacobs. Loving father of Helen and Ernie Lobb, Wilma and Ken Ellis, Peter and Caroline Jacobs, Cathy and Ron Wilson, Hubert and Patty Jacobs, and John Jr. and Leanne Jacobs. Proud Opa of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by many family members in The Netherlands.

Born in 1933, John immigrated to Canada in 1957. He went back to The Netherlands in 1963, where he met the love of his life, Maria “Mary” Vermue. They married and moved back to Canada that same year. John has always been passionate of both his Netherland and Canadian roots, and together he and Mary were very proud of the family they raised.

Visitation will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 22 Mary Street, ZURICH on Thursday, May 15th 9:30 – 10:30 AM, where John’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM. Interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery on the Bronson Line.

Donations to St. Boniface Catholic Church or South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Exeter Villa for the excellent care and making John feel at home.

    “Compactly wrapped in a tear
    sometimes very spontaneously
a shared past softly rolls into the present
    and reminds us
that they never completely leave us.”

Our condolences on the passing of Uncle Kees, he was a true Jacobs, one of the 7 sons of Grandpa and Grandma.
We wish you strength, love and confidence in the future.
