HULL: William John Alexander formerly of Blyth

April 26, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 21 Condolences

HULL: William John Alexander formerly of Blyth

October 16, 1928 – April 18, 2025

Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by love at Craigwiel Gardens on Friday, April 18, 2025 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late June (Bromley) Hull and Antonia (Linton) Hull. Loving father of Anna and Paul Crittenden, John Hull and Dawn Kindrat, the late Gary Hull and Denise Legris, Bob and Jille Hull, Charles and Janet Hull, and David Hull and the late Karen Lange. Cherished grandfather of Derek (Holly), Natalie (Jordy), Brandon, Steven (Courtney), Seth (Breanna), Luke, Chloe, Issac, Zechariah, Ben, Juda, Carley, Leanne, and Melanie and great-grandfather of Lily, Maven, Wylie, Gillian, Carson, Easton, Piper, Olivia, Georgia, and Ozzy. Dear brother-in-law of Dorothy Hull, and Marie Bromley. Bill will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, the Bromley family and Antonia’s family. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Gladys (McNeil) Hull, sisters; Juneve Flood (William), Elaine Jacklin (Lawrence), Jean Hull, Marion Knox (Harold), and Anne Edgar (Lawrence), brothers; Charles Hull, and Archie Hull (Jean).

Bill lived a life full of service, laughter, and love. He coached minor hockey — tightening countless pairs of skates over the years — and helped kickstart the broomball program in Blyth. A dedicated community member, he was a proud member of the Blyth Lions Club and served as a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years. Bill sang in the church choir, danced with staff and residents at the nursing home, and was an active voice on the residents’ council. He ran his own business, Bill’s Electric, and cherished fishing trips to Goderich and northern Ontario with his wife and family. Above all, Bill loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, building a lifetime of memories together.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 420 (Blyth Legion), 192 Dinsley Street, BLYTH on Friday, May 2nd from 1 – 4 PM. Private family interment Blyth Union Cemetery.

Donations to the LHSF – Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

I was privileged to meet and get to know Bill during my first year of volunteering at Craigweil. He was a true gentleman and a bright light who always had a sparkle in his eye. He loved music and dancing: he taught me the two-step and he was 96 at the time! Go with god Bill, and may your heaven be full of all the things you love including dancing and music.

Bill and Toni were our neighbors when we moved to Crediton and they couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming. Bill spent lots of hours helping with outside projects and even cleaned our eavestrough one day, out of the goodness of his heart when he noticed it was backed up. That’s the kind of neighbor he was. Bill was extremely caring and friendly to the kids and was honored when we came home with a new baby named William as well. Thinking of his family and friends at this difficult time.

Condolences to all the family and friends of Bill. His love for his family, (both blood and by choice) ran deep. I know my life and the lives of my family were made better because he was there. He will be missed. I picture him and Mom dancing just like they did right up until their 35th wedding anniversary.
