HARVEY: Robert ‘Bob’ Leonard of London, formerly of Exeter

February 2, 2026 By Haskett Funeral Homes 16 Condolences

HARVEY: Robert ‘Bob’ Leonard of London, formerly of Exeter

(1940 – 2026)

On a cold and blizzard-like January 27th, 2026–sixteen days shy of his 86th birthday—Robert “Bob” Leonard Harvey died peacefully at his home, in London, surrounded by his family.

Raised in Exeter, Bob’s adolescence came to a premature end—especially by today’s standards—when his father removed him from school early so that he could drive a taxi for one of the family businesses. However, two years later, Bob stopped driving the taxi to work the first of a handful of sales representative positions he would eventually have across Ontario over the next forty-five years. He first moved from Exeter to work for Union Gas, in London, and then moved a few more times to be a sales representative for some large appliance company brands headquartered in the GTA, which had him
cover a variety of territories around the province.

Bob had the perfect personality for a sales rep, and it was because of his personality (and sales record) that his employers viewed him as one of the best—they often rewarded him with trips around the world. He was someone that you always enjoyed having a conversation with, and he could always find something to laugh about. He seemed to be perpetually in a good mood. If you were to ask him how he was doing on any given day, he would almost always reply with the same response: “Fantastic.”

When he wasn’t working, Bob was always busy with his family. He married twice, and he was a father to four children. He enjoyed going to his brother’s cottage or camping every summer. His favourite place was camping in Killbear Provincial Park.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Deborah; his children, Chris, Ann (Bruce), Dan (Jen), and Steve; his grandchildren, Dallas, Andree, and Wren; his brother Bill (Marlene); and many others. He was predeceased by his parents, Len and Dallas, and his brother, Jack (Jane).

Bob was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, a best friend, a colleague, a Blue Jays fan, a Snowbird (for a few years after he sold his house), and many more things; however—most importantly—he was a fantastic human being.

In accordance with Bob’s prior arrangements, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering around the family plot will take place at a later date.

I am so sorry Deb, (Chris, Ann, Dan and Steve) for this tremendous loss to your family. I too, travelled this same path for 2+ years with Larry and I know what a void it feels like in your daily life. I will miss Bob too. His laugh, his teasing and jokes. He was so very special and ‘fantastic’!

My heartfelt condolences to Deb and her family. I met Bob a few years ago through activities with Deb. Right away I loved his fun presentation, as he dressed like a butler with a napkin on his arm. Deb, you are in my prayers. Thinking of you.

The last time I called my cousin, Bob, wasn’t a long time from when he passed,I knew that he was really not doing well. It was the first time he told me he was tired, his answer was usually “fantastic”. I always enjoyed our chats Deb would be sharing in the background. Bob always asked me about the Blue Jays. I will miss our chats, he always made me laugh and smile. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.

As a resident where Bob lived, I will always remember how cheerful and happy he was sitting on the patio with Deb. I once spoke with Bob about Chris Bassitt (Blue Jay pitcher) and how he pitched a winning game the same day his wife gave birth to their new baby son. Quick witted, Bob replied ‘I guess they both produced that day’ One of kind. Rest peacefully.
