HALL: James “Jim” Henry of Clinton

March 11, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Home 8 Condolences

HALL: James “Jim” Henry of Clinton

Passed away at Huronview – Home for the Aged, Clinton on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the age of 88. Born in Warwick, England on August 25, 1936. Married his beloved wife the late Janet Horswood in 1960, and they immigrated to Ontario in 1966.

Jim was one of life’s characters, and will be greatly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him, especially his dear friend Kimett, sister-in-law Sarah (Richard) Horswood and her son James Robertson from England. Fondly remembered his many nieces and nephews and extended family from England. Jim is predeceased by his parents Edward and Phyllis (Coney) Hall and his 3 siblings; Bill, Eddie, and Doris.

Jim was a mason and builder by trade, working for different companies and later owned his own business until retirement. He was always busy, and often helped out with physical jobs that would have been beyond the capability of men half his age! He loved golf, and enjoyed playing with his brother-in-law Richard when he visited from the UK. He had a mischievous side, and was always joking and happy.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Huronview for the care and compassion provided to Jim during his stay.

As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Donations to Humane Society – Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth or the Stratford General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Jimmy may you rest in peace. I met you soon after I moved to Fullarton some years ago. Remember those Friday night parties, they were fun and some cold beverages were consumed. You were a great neighbour you always borrowed me your Kubota to blow snow thank you. I miss you often when I look at your place.

Jim was a great neighbor growing up next door to him I spent lots of time chatting with him. I remember one winter where he built an Igloo for the dogs and I to play in. I recall a time when I spent my day with him running around town and stopping at couple of donut shops. I don’t think I have ever ate that many donuts in one day since. He will truly be missed

Uncle Jim was the youngest of our Dad Eddie’s siblings and we remember him fondly both from our childhood and also from his return visits from Canada to England in later years. He was a lively character to whom family was important. When our mother died Jim sent a beautiful photo he’d taken of them years earlier to Dad in England and this was very much appreciated by the whole family. When Mum and Dad visited him and Janet, he took them out to the wildest of woods, complete with wolves and bears, where they managed to get lost. Jim went for help while Mum and Dad sat round the fire, listening to the assorted howls and growls of the night before he returned at dawn, bringing help, refreshment and a unique holiday memory! May he rest in peace.

    Eldon and Donna Shelley
We lived next door to Jim in Fullarton. He was the best neighbor, always willing to lend a hand, loved to kid around and laugh and was generally just a great character to be around.
The world is a sadder place without him.
