Passed away peacefully at Huronlea, Brussels on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Howard Hackwell (2014). Cherished mother of Dean Hackwell, Pamela Hackwell, and Patricia โTrishโ Hackwell. Loving grandma of Sebastian Andrades. Dear sister-in-law of Betty Hulley. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Lorne and Mabel Hulley, and her siblings; Eldon, Ken, Maxine, Donald, and in-laws; Elliott Hackwell, Merton and Doreen Hackwell, and Wayne and Claire (Hackwell) Henry
Audrey was a woman of creativity, community, and quiet strength. A gifted quilter and seamstress, she poured care and craftsmanship into everything she made. She was also a wonderful cook, always ready to lend a hand for community turkey dinners or gatherings with friends. Audrey and Howard cherished time spent with the Walton gang, a close-knit group whose laughter and friendship meant so much. She was an active member of the United Church Women and gave generously of her time, whether helping at the Brussels Legion or supporting community events around Walton, Blyth, or Brussels. Audrey also had a way with wordsโsharing local stories as a writer for the Huron Expositor. Her working years included time with Bell Telephone and later at Baintons Old Mill in Blyth, where she formed many friendships. Through her 10 years living at Huronlea in Brussels, Audreyโs sense of humour and spark was quite enjoyed by the staff and residents.
Donations to Huronlea Home For The Aged in Brussels in memory of Audrey would be appreciated by the family.

We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Dear Dean, Pam and Patricia,
Audrey was always so kind to me when I came to Walton. Seen her and Howard at dances. She was always a great worker at Duffโs United. I was looking at a quilt she made me recently. We remember her & Howard coming in to see our 59 Chev because they had a yellow one. She liked that I worked at Huronlea because I brought her news of Walton. Our sincere condolences to her family.

Dear Dean, Pam and Patricia,
I recently watched the video of the 50th Anniversary of the Walton Community Hall.
Your Mom and Dad took part in the square dance on the stage. I think the men had some liquid encouragement before getting up there! ๐
Dancing was part of the Walton gang’s social life.
Treasure your memories of your Mom!๐
Our deepest sympathy,
Rick and Margaret McInroy

Our sincere condolences are with you at this time of loss. Many happy memories of times spent in Walton through many different shared events and activities. View the pictures (I see you have the “famous” church pictures too) often as they help to keep her memory alive as you grieve the loss of your Mom.

So many fun memories around the Hackwell house when I was growing up. The only home I knew that had 2 telephones. One to call south of Walton and one like our to call north of Walton. Seems crazy now with Canada wide cell phone plans.
I have fond memories of Audrey patiently trying to teach me how to crochet a granny square. Made a very small blanket and that was it for me. Lol.
Dean Pam and Patricia, I’m sure you have lots of memories to cherish of your Mom and Dad
