Suddenly, surrounded by her family, at Strathroy Middlesex Hospital, on Saturday, June 20, 2015, Brigitta “Bridget” Margaretha Marie (Appelman) Groot, of Zurich, passed away in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Johannes “John” Groot (2011). Bridget emigrated to Strathroy with her husband John in February 1951. In March 1958 they moved to their farm in Zurich. Proud mother of 4 daughters and 7 sons, John And Elze of R.R. 3 Zurich, Peter and Elaine of Hensall, Marianne and Glen Warwick of Seaforth, David and Shari of Chatham, Margaret and Paul Munn of R.R. 1 Hensall, Patrick and Darleen of R. R. 1 Zurich, Elizabeth and Paul Weber of Mildmay, Christopher and Rhonda of Ilderton, Jeannie Timmerman of Calgary, Joey and Patty of R.R. 1 Zurich and Jerry and Julie of R.R. 1 Zurich. Loving grandmother of 35 and great-grandmother of 24. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Corrie Appelman, Theo and Allie Appelman, Jack and Dale Oud, Mary Appelman and Case and Dor Groot. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Veronica (Beemster) Appelman,her stepfather John Oud, one brother Gerard Appelman, one sister Margaretta (Arnold) Sloot and one grandson Jonathon Groot . Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation in the J. M. McBeath Funeral Home, 49 Goshen St. N, Zurich on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Zurich on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. Fr. Matthew George celebrant. Interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Parish Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Huron Hospital Foundation, Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
