GOVERS: Mary

May 20, 2022 By 13 Condolences

GOVERS: Mary

GOVERS:  To the world you were one person: to our family you were the world.  On May 20, 2022 the Govers Family lost their heart, their soul and the tie that bound them together.  At the age of 86, Mary (Suykerbuyk) Govers of Crediton passed peacefully at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, where she was a resident for the past ten months.  Wife and Soulmate to John for 64 years.  Mother and confidant to Rick (Marg), Mary-Ann (Steve) and the late Ken (Deana) who she will meet with a smile as they reunite.  Always waiting with open arms and willing to drop everything for her grandchildren:  Kim Govers (Chris), Dave Govers (Sarah), Greg Govers (Lindsey), Michelle Koricina, Matt Koricina (Brittany), Emily Govers (Jordan), Colleen Govers and Lindsay Govers (Ryan).  Great Grandma to nine, who brought her so much joy:  Lizzie Dorak; Jason, Wyatt, and Charlotte Govers; William, Madelyn, and Olivia Govers; and Brayden and Parker Koricina.  A limb has fallen from our family tree that says grieve not for me, remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived when I was strong.  Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma โ€“ Our family thanks you.

โ€œTo live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.โ€

Remembered by Mary and Johns siblings in Holland and in Canada along with their many nieces, nephews and their families.  Visitation for family and friends will commence at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Fr. Vince Gulikers celebrant.  Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society,  Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice would be appreciated.  T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood entrusted with arrangements.

Dear John, Rick, Mary-Ann, Deana and your families,

Sending our heartfelt condolences on the loss of a very dear woman – one you proudly called wife, mother, grandmother. It has been many years, but we fondly recall chats with her at Lenders’ family functions – always delightful, warm and inviting, and very good friends to my mother and father in law. More recently, seeing her weekly at Strathmere, I found myself wishing she could converse with my Mom, also a resident there. So much in common -both strong farm wives, and sadly, both becoming more frail with age.

We have no words to ease your sorrow, but may you take comfort in your love for each other, and the wonderful memories she has left you all with. They will be your treasures and last a lifetime. We will remember her.

    With deepest sympathy,
    Gerald and Brenda Lenders

    John and family
Deepest sympathy to you on your loss. “Riet” as my mom always referred to her, was a much beloved cousin of the Roks family and it was always good to see your family at our many extended family events. Family reunions which included a lively game of prisoners base were especially fun. Thinking of youโค๏ธ

Dear aunt Mary. So sorry to hear that you are no longer among us. We remember you as a great woman with lots of energy and always ready to help. We spend some fantastic holidays with you and your family in Canada. We will never forget. Not my parents, Jac and Mien Govers, not us, Fons and Karina and most certainly not my children, Rob, Thom and Nicky.
We always felt at home. Thank you for that.
You will always be in our hearts โ™ฅ๏ธ
