At L.H.S.C. Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday, October 3, 2009 Gordon Laverne Johns of Lucan and formerly of Exeter and Usborne Township in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Conard) Johns. Dear father and father-in-law of Larry of Lucan, Linda and Paul Wallis of Granton, Alec and Catherine Johns of Corunna, Arlene and Larry Shevolup of Osoyoos, B.C., and Ruth and John Stevens of St. Marys and Bev Johns of Calgary. Dear grandfather of Shawn and Bernadette; Suzanne and Paul, and Brad and Kelly; Carie, Angie and Joe, and Paula; Carleigh, and Kyle and his fiancée Alanna. Dear great-grandfather of Hope, Chantel, Payton, Tate, Paige, Keegan, Jordon, Drew, Cameron and Brooke. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Marjorie and Howard Hodge, and Marie Fisher all of Exeter and Kathleen Stark of St. Marys. Predeceased by a grandson Peter Wallis, brother Norman and his wife Jean Johns, and brothers-in-law Ford Stark and Ben Fisher.
At Gordon’s request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Wednesday, October 7th with Pastor Doug Loveday officiating. Interment Zion Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

I am sad for all of us at the loss of this “gentle”man. I still remember the hard times he gave me when I tried to get him to spend money on the car for himself, then, when it was time to turn the car over to a grandchild, there was no limit! I will always smile when I think of Gord.
