GILLESPIE: Jane (McCann)

GILLESPIE:  At her home surrounded by family, on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, Jane (McCann) Gillespie, of St. Joseph, at the age of 69.  Beloved wife of John Gillespie for 49 years.  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Shawn and Amy Gillespie of Lucan, Erin Gillespie of Waterloo and Kate and Colin Cooper of Guelph.  Proud and caring Grandma of Libby, Blake, Nolan and Masen, Avery, Lauren and Clara.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of Denis McCann (1967), Dan McCann (2012) and Marian Smibert, Marg and Gavin Wright, Jim and Deb McCann, Paul McCann and Jody Shaw, Brian and Jayne McCann, Bill and Leanne McCann, Bruce Gillespie and Beth Woolnough and Heather English.  Jane will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbours.  Dear friend of Marg, Kirby, Lynne, Barb and Patti and Peter.  Predeceased by her parents William “Bill” McCann (1996) and Mary (Doyle) McCann (1998), her father-in-law Herb Gillespie (1995) and mother-in-law Jean (McHolm) Gillespie (2011). Jane will be remembered for her positive outlook on life and generous and caring nature. She obtained her BA, BEd and MEd degrees from Western University and enjoyed a career in education with the Thames Valley District School Board and Avon Maitland District School Board for over 35 years.  She loved living by the lake, riding her bike, traveling and spending time with her friends but most of all loved to be surrounded by family and spend as much time as possible with her seven grandchildren.  At Jane’s request, cremation has taken place. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Mount Carmel, Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Father Ben Huyge Celebrant. If desired, donations to the South Huron Hospital Foundation, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church or Blessings Community Store would be appreciated by her family.
