FRAYNE: Lisa (Ferst) of Grand Bend

August 30, 2025 By Haskett Funeral Homes 82 Condolences

FRAYNE: Lisa (Ferst) of Grand Bend

Alisa “Lisa” Hope (Ferst) Frayne passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Jessica’s House after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Lisa was the cherished wife of the late Rick Frayne (1949-2025) for more than 48 years. She was the proud mother of Justine, and Chris (Marria); loving grandma of Seth, Quinn, Lily, and Caleb; dear sister of Jeff Ferst, and Steve (Brenda) Ferst (their son Joel); and sister-in-law of Marilyn Williamson (her son Matt).

Lisa, a native of New York City (the Bronx), met Rick on holiday in Martinique and, a true love story, the couple was married within a year. The “big city girl” quickly embraced her new life in Canada. A physiotherapist, Lisa’s career included time at South Huron Hospital, working with special needs children in local schools, and concluding her career at the CCAC (Ontario Health at Home).

Lisa most cherished being a wife, loving mother and grandmother. She proudly supported Rick as he established and grew his business, Exeter Toyota.

A private celebration of life will be held. Interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Jessica’s House or South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank and extend their gratitude for all the thoughtful care and incredible kindness along the way, specifically the staff at Jessica’s House.

    We were saddened to hear you have lost Lisa, your mom and grandmother. We will never forget the encouragement and support she provided to our young son in his early years in our home. She worked so hard with him and provided hope and reassurance to us as young parents of a special needs child she was a master of all things and I never forgot the lasting impressions she left with us. It was a critical time in his life and certainly ours. We waited and looked forward to her visits her smiles and her strong ethics pushing our son to his maximum but being such a great coach and mentor. Truly a lifeline for a number of years. I loved to run into her and catch up. May you cherish your memories of this wonderful lady and care deeply for each other

    Heartfelt sympathy is extended to all in Alisa’s family. I enjoyed working with Alisa as the OT and PT team in several Huron County schools years ago. She had a great sense of humour and we had lots of fun. It was always easy to catch up and chat about kids and grandkids when we ran into each other in recent years. It’s difficult to comprehend her passing but she will certainly be missed and remembered fondly.

    Lisa’s family…I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Lisa and Rick were both good friends and neighbours that loved to entertain – fond memories from Carling Street. I remember when your Dad brought Lisa to Exeter, such an unlikely couple: a home-town boy, and bright lights New York gal, and yet…they formed a formidable relationship that became the envy of the town. A love story that I am grateful to have witnessed. Together again, you can bet they’re lighting the candles and pouring the wine. May the love and joy they had lift your hearts and light your path.

    To Lisa’s adoring family. Your mom and dad were such wonderful friends to us. We will cherish all our memories with them. Of course, our favourite things to do were to go out to dinner, or downtown for an ice cream. I (Sue) spent so much time with your mom out walking telling each other our problems, or sharing a glass of wine and by the end of our time we felt better. She loved you all so much and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Family was her life. Don and I will always remember your parents with smiles and love in our hearts. Deepest condolences to you all.

    Justine and Chris and families;
    Please accept my deepest sympathy at your loss of a mom and grandmother. I got to know Alisa when I was a teacher, teaching special needs children and working with her and then teaching Justine at EPS. What a wonderful, quiet, charming person she was. I always enjoyed chatting with her and when we met anytime it was always good to catch up a bit. She will be missed. God Bless.
