I was very saddened to hear the news of Fred’s passing. So many good times to remember over the years.

I was fortunate enough to stay with him and my aunt during my university career. Many times he took me out for a beer after work and to share a few laughs. He also showed me the art of making homemade sauerkraut.

Growing up, my brothers spent considerable time at his trailer in Grand Bend. So many great memories at the beach. He often took us for a ride in his Mustang and we drove up and down the main drag.

He hosted an annual Christmas party with my aunt. We would all go to church beforehand and you could always count on him singing “Go tell it on the mountain”.

Thank-you for all the great memories. RIP Uncle Freddy.

    Best,

    Jeremy Schmidt

I was only a young kid when my dad raced with Freddie and his brother Dixie at Bridgeport Speedway. What I remember most is Freddie’s huge smile. I can see from the pictures posted here Freddie never lost that smile. Always a gentleman and I’m sure he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Fred was a frequent friendly face in Grand Bend at the legion and cruising Main St in his red Mustang, hat & sunglasses playing the song Mustang Sally. He will be missed by many.
