Early on the morning of December 11th, 2025, our little hummingbird Eileen Juliana (Delrue, Lewylle) Sparenberg stretched her wings and migrated toward eternal sunshine and warmer climes.
On this earth she served as the beloved wife of the late Frank Lewylle, and Alexander Sparenberg. Irreplaceable Mother and Mother in-law of Richard and Joanne Lewylle, Kenneth and Caroline Lewylle and Kim Heathcote.
Adored Grandmother of Greg (Christy), and Tony (Jill) Lewylle, Stephanie (Doug) Van Dyk, Chandler, Grayson, Steele Heathcote. Treasured Great-Grandmother of Rebecca, Hannah, Zoey, Maddie, Lacey, Quinn, Aaron, Adalyn and Sloane. Delighted great-great-Grandmother of Kinsley.
Dear sister and sister-in-law of, Edward and Josette Delrue, Shirley Sparenberg, Marie Srokosz, Elizabeth Caryn, Lexie Martin, Robert and Charlene Sparenberg. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Prosper and Charlotte (Assel) Delrue, In-laws, Gustaf and Paula (Hoet) Lewylle, Hendrik and Madalein (Mahau) Sparenberg. Brother Cyriel Delrue, Brother and sisters-in-law Neftaly Caryn, Ken and Sidonie MacDonald, John Martin, Henk and Yvonne Sparenberg, William Sparenberg, Charles Srokosz, Roy and Leona VanTorre, Richard and Madeleine Vlasschaert . Nephews Gary Dreveny, Paul VanTorre, and niece Sandra Sparenberg.
Mom was born the eldest of five children in a little log cabin in Raleigh Township, Ontario, to her newly immigrated parents. Her tiny stature would be the only part of her being that was little. Though she was not given to be the center of attention, her radiant smile and dancing eyes lit up whatever room she was in. A woman of beauty inside and out she was quickly noticed and not easily forgotten. Like the hummingbird she was tiny, fast and beautiful. Faced with more than her fair share of heartache and loss she remained grateful, generous, keenly aware of the needs of others, loyal and hardworking. She continually chose the higher ground in difficult situations, despised gossip, busybodies and kept secrets to her death. She was a wee bit sweet and a wee bit spicey which earned her the nickname “FURY” that she carried with her to the end of her days. She loved farming, gardening, decorating, fashion, the Monarchy, handwork and all domestic things.
She excelled in organizing many types of events, feeding the family, the neighbors, the church, the friends and the birds. Over the years she delighted in her children and grandchildren, their friends, interests and lives. She was a pillar of her church community serving as deaconess and head deaconess for many years. She had a deep faith that was balanced and grace filled. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries and found every reason to bake and share and make every family gathering memorable. You could never leave her table hungry or her home empty-handed. Her life was one of sacrifice and service.
