It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gavin, as the result of a motor vehicle collision on Monday September 29 2025, at the age of 17. Gavin was a beloved son of Blake and Lynndsay DeClark of Thorndale, and the proud and caring big brother of Chyler.
He will be sadly missed by his Opa and Nana Bob and Cathy Luyben and his GiGi Deb DeClark. Cherished great-grandson of Doris Scheurman and Alice Wolfe. Predeceased by his grandfather Robert Lewis, and great-grandparents, Greg Scheurman, Mary and Bert Luyben, Edwin Wolfe, and Harold and Alma Lewis.
Gavin will be forever missed by his aunts and uncles William and Trella Luyben, Stephanie and Mark Landon, Emily and Anthony Lewis, Jeremy and Gioia DeClark, and Kevin and Steph DeClark. A special nephew, cousin and friend to many, Gavin’s memory will be carried on by those who loved him.
Known for his kind heart and caring nature, Gavin always put others before himself. He had a great sense of humour, loved fishing, reading, listening to music, playing video games (loudly and passionately) with his friends, and watching documentaries about dinosaurs and war. Gavin was deeply loved and will be remembered for the joy, compassion and warmth he brought to every life he touched.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan, on Friday, October 3rd from 2–4 p.m. and 6:30–8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster United Church, 115 George Street, Thamesford. Interment to follow at Zion Hill 7th Line Cemetery, Thamesford.
