DAVIES: William George of London

December 3, 2021 By Haskett Funeral Home 18 Condolences

DAVIES: William George of London

William ‘Bill’ Davies passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 90. Bill lived his life with the energy of a mischievous child.  Bill was ferociously dedicated to his growing family.  He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of 67 years and their 3 daughters Vickie Rhyno, Judy MacMillan, and Gail Loyens.  Bill loved to sneak a cold beer with his son-in-laws Earl Rhyno, Rob MacMillan and Mike Loyens.  He was the ultimate patriarch to his grandchildren Alicia, Billy (Jenni), Shayne (Natalie), Tori, Kate (Jordan), Clare, Tayler (Kyle), Blake (Becky), Ali, and his great grandchildren Violet, Hazelmae, Shaylie, Watson, Lauren and many more to come.

Bill will always be missed for his infectious smile and his giggle that let Kay know he was up to no good and let the grandchildren know he was ready for action.  The ultimate family man, he was always the #1 fan at all sporting events and activities, ready to read a story book, join the party, or win any game that required rhythm and accuracy.  Only Grandpa Bill would jump into the lake from the second story window of the boathouse at 80 years young to take the boys for $100 bucks.

The world has lost a shining light that lived every day focused on how he could best serve his family.  Anyone who knew him, loved ‘Uncle Willy’.  Simple, unpretentious and ready to serve.  Our Bill will be an unassuming role model for the next generation of men in his family for many years to come.

“God bless you and rest in peace.  You will be truly missed.”

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for invited guests will be held at the Highland Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, London, on Saturday, December 18th at 1PM. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/cremationandcelebrations.

Dear Mrs. Davies, Judy, Vicki, Gail and all the rest of your family, I am so sorry for the loss of your kind and funny dad. He was such a good man and an example to me as a kid growing up on Windsor Ave. of what a good father should be. I have so many memories of swimming in your pool, driving to church on Sunday mornings where your dad would drop us kids off and go home again so your mom could have a quiet Sunday morning. I have good memories of many weekend sleepovers where I marvelled at the magical love and happiness in your home. His love for his wife and children was so big and so important to him. I remember him defending us from the mean bus driver who parked on Baker Street but he never knew that Judy and I provoked the man by ringing his buzzer and running away! He gave you all a good life and you were his pride and joy. Mr. Davies was the definition of a good family man and I know he will be sorely missed. It was a privilege to know him and your family as a child growing up. May he rest in the sweetest peace.

Kay, Vickie, Judy and Gail, so sorry to hear you lost your loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. I have wonderful memories of him and a lifetime of stories. I remember seeing him in the stands during Strathroy Rocket and St Thomas Star hockey games watching his grandson play so many years ago. We always had great banter back and forth as he cheered on Shayne and I cheered on my son(Dan). Unfortunately we were always on opposite teams. I am thinking about all of you through this difficult time.
